Enrollment

Today was the start of the new school year at Fukui High School. The campus was buzzing with activity, filled with the laughter and chatter of students.

The start of a new semester brought energy and vitality to the campus.

"Hey, interested in rugby? Join our rugby club!" "Ever played shogi? Our shogi club welcomes you!""Baseball is the pride of our nation! Join the baseball team!""Swim - experience the freedom and grace of a fish!"

Members of various school clubs eagerly recruited freshmen, hoping to attract new talent. Their enthusiastic shouts created a vibrant, almost competitive atmosphere.

In the midst of this lively scene, Shiro and Momoi entered the school hand in hand.

Their appearance immediately caused a stir. The couple stood out not only because of their striking appearance, but also because of Shiro's impressive height of 194cm, which made him impossible to miss.

"Wow, they look perfect together!""Yeah, so striking!""Am I the only one who noticed how tall that guy is? He's gigantic!"

The students muttered in amazement, their eyes following the duo. Some even stepped aside respectfully to make room.

Suddenly, a boy approached them, his eyes bright with anticipation.

"Hey, man! Join the swim team! With your physique, it'd be a waste not to!"

Hearing this, the nearby girls lit up as they imagined Shiro shirtless, revealing toned muscles. Their hearts raced as they silently chanted, "Say yes! Say yes!"

But Shiro politely declined with a wave of his hand. "Sorry, I already joined the basketball team." Then he took Momoi's hand, ready to leave.

The girls sighed with disappointment. No swimming lessons with the tall, handsome boy - what a shame.

The boy didn't push any further and stepped aside to let them go.

"Hey, Shiro, over here!"

Two voices broke through the chatter and caught everyone's attention.

Shiro and Momoi turned to see two figures waving at them - Nijimura and Kawamura.

"Nijimura, you're here already!" Shiro beamed as he led Momoi towards them.

"Yes, I thought I'd come early" Nijimura replied and then gestured to Kawamura.

"Nice to see you, Kawamura!" Shiro greeted him warmly.

Kawamura nodded and said with a smile, "Long time no see, huh? It's been years!"

Indeed, time had flown by. Ever since Shiro and his middle school team had defeated Rokko, their fame had skyrocketed, even reaching the high school basketball scene.

While Shiro had become a legend in middle school basketball, Kawamura's high school years had been less triumphant. He hadn't won any major championships, including the IH (InterHigh) or WC (Winter Cup) tournaments, mainly due to a lack of strong teammates to complement his skills.

"Welcome to Fukui High! I'll take you three to the basketball gym," Kawamura said with a smile, leading the way.

Soon, they reached the gym where most of the basketball team was already hard at work.

Shiro scanned the players and shook his head slightly. None of them had a particularly strong presence. No wonder Kawamura, who had been impressive in middle school, hadn't had much success here.

However, with the addition of Shiro and Nijimura, the team's chances of becoming a championship contender had skyrocketed.

"The coach isn't here yet," Kawamura explained. "He'll come this afternoon when all the new members have arrived."

"Captain!"

"Hey, Captain!"

The players stopped their training to greet Kawamura, who responded to each of them.

Following closely behind, Shiro watched the interactions. The camaraderie between Kawamura and the team made a positive impression. A respected and well-liked captain usually indicated a harmonious team environment.

"It seems that Kawamura is highly respected" Shiro thought, feeling more optimistic about the team.

However, some players started to whisper when they noticed Shiro and Nijimura.

"Those two look really familiar..."

"Now that you mention it, they do!"

Suddenly, someone shouted, "That's Shiro, the top middle school player and the ace of the Generation of Miracles!"

Gasps echoed through the gym. The realization sent a wave of excitement and disbelief.

"Wait, and the other guy is Shuzo Nijimura!"

"The former top power forward in middle school!"

"Yeah, if Daiki Aomine hadn't stepped up later, Nijimura would have kept that title for sure!"

"Alright everyone," Kawamura clapped his hands to gather the team. "These two are our new members. Get to know them - you can't say you don't recognize them later!"

The players burst into laughter.

"Come on, introduce yourselves!" Kawamura said and turned to Shiro and Nijimura.

They exchanged a look and Shiro stepped forward. "Hello, everyone. I'm Kawakami Shiro, a small forward. Let's work hard together to win the championship!"

Nijimura followed with a confident grin. "Hey, everyone! I'm Shuzo Nijimura, a second-year forward. Nice to meet you!"

The team clapped enthusiastically, welcoming the new stars.

Kawamura then waved them back to practice, and the gym buzzed with renewed energy.
