Chapter 87: Exploring the Mysterious Land to Find the True Path

While escaping from their base, Dai Shiya and Wei Qing unexpectedly came to a strange and mysterious place.

Dai Shiya's fingers gently brushed across the cold stone tablet. Those strange symbols seemed to carry a strange energy that made her feel dizzy.

"Be careful!" Wei Qing suddenly exclaimed and pulled her hard.

Dai Shiya staggered back, and before she could stand firmly, she felt a slight vibration from the ground, as if some huge monster was approaching, and the thick fog around her rolled up with the vibration.

"What's going on?" Dai Shiya's heart was beating violently, and an inexplicable feeling of fear surged in her heart.

Wei Qing did not answer. Her face was pale and her eyes quickly scanned the surroundings, trying to find something in the thick fog.

"There!" Wei Qing suddenly pointed to a place not far away and said hurriedly, "It seems... there is a hole!"

Dai Shiya looked in the direction she pointed, and indeed saw vaguely a faint light flickering in the depths of the thick fog, like a ray of hope in the darkness.

"Go and have a look!"

The two did not dare to delay, supporting each other, and walked towards the light with one foot deep and one foot shallow. In the thick fog, they could not see the road under their feet, and could only grope forward based on their intuition.

"Ah!" Dai Shiya suddenly screamed and her body fell backwards uncontrollably.

"What's wrong?" Wei Qing quickly supported her and asked nervously.

"My foot..." Dai Shiya's face turned pale. She looked down at her ankle and saw a dark green vine-like object tightly wrapped around her ankle, cold and tough.

Wei Qing immediately realized what was happening, and she pulled out the dagger she carried with her, trying to cut the vine. However, when the sharp blade touched the vine, it made a crisp "clang" sound, as if it had hit metal.

"It's useless," Dai Shiya gasped, "This thing is very hard!"

Wei Qing didn't believe it and increased her strength, but the vines didn't move at all. What was worse was that as they struggled, more vines stretched out from the thick fog and wrapped around their legs like poisonous snakes. The cold and powerful force slowly dragged them into the depths of the thick fog...

"We... must find a way..." Dai Shiya's voice became weaker and weaker, but before she could finish her words, Wei Qing suddenly covered her mouth.

"Don't make a sound!" Wei Qing lowered her voice very low, staring ahead vigilantly. In the thick fog, a huge black shadow was slowly approaching them...

Dai Shiya felt Wei Qing's hand was cold, but surprisingly strong. She held her breath and followed Wei Qing's gaze, her heart almost stopping.

In the thick fog, a huge black shadow gradually became clear. It was a monster as big as a hill, covered with thick scales and shining with a metallic luster. It had a hideous face, fangs interlaced in its bloody mouth, and a foul smell hit them in the face. It let out a deafening roar that shook the ground, and then it stretched out its sturdy limbs and rushed towards them.

The shadow of death loomed over the two of them. Dai Shiya felt the vines wrapped around her ankles tightening, and the cold touch almost made her lose consciousness. She subconsciously wanted to struggle, but was held down by Wei Qing.

"Don't move!" Wei Qing's voice was almost squeezed out from between her teeth, "It's very sensitive to movement!"

The monster was getting closer and closer, and its huge shadow completely enveloped them. Dai Shiya could even feel the smelly hot air emitted by the monster, and the vibrations caused by its heavy footsteps. She closed her eyes tightly, and despair spread.

At this critical moment, Wei Qing suddenly thought of something. She suddenly let go of the person who was covering Dai Shiya's mouth and quickly snatched the knife from Dai Shiya's hand.

"Give me your jewelry!" Wei Qing whispered, her tone quick and firm.

Dai Shiya was stunned for a moment, not understanding what Wei Qing was going to do, but she subconsciously took off her earrings and handed them over.

Wei Qing took the earring and raised it and the knife above her head. In the thick fog, the faint light shone on the diamond of the earring, reflecting a dazzling light. Although the light was faint, it was particularly eye-catching in the dark fog.

The monster seemed to be frightened by the sudden light. It stopped suddenly and let out a puzzled growl. Its huge head tilted back slightly, and its scarlet eyes stared at the light, as if judging this sudden change.

Wei Qing seized this opportunity, pointed the knife at the vine wrapped around Dai Shiya's ankle, and slashed it hard. Perhaps because the monster's attention was distracted, the vine's strength was slightly relaxed, and the knife finally cut through the vine's skin, and green juice splashed out.

"Hurry!" Wei Qing shouted in a low voice and used all her strength to pull Dai Shiya up.

Dai Shiya didn't care about the pain in her ankle. She staggered to her feet and followed Wei Qing to run towards the cave entrance.

The monster seemed to have reacted, roaring again and chasing after them. In the thick fog, the faint light flickered, illuminating their escape route and the monster's hideous face...

"It...it seems to be afraid of the light..." Dai Shiya said while running and panting, her voice trembling.

Wei Qing did not answer, but held the knife and earrings tightly in her hands, raised them high, and with the faint light, she saw the monster's weakness - its eyes seemed to be particularly sensitive to light. Every time the light flashed, the monster would subconsciously close its eyes and let out an uneasy growl.

"Run!" Wei Qing shouted and pulled Dai Shiya towards the cave entrance.

Behind them, the monster's angry roar was getting closer and closer, and its heavy footsteps seemed to be stepping on their hearts, and every step made them feel suffocated by fear.

Finally, they rushed into the cave.

The scene before them stunned both of them.

The depths of the cave were not as dark and damp as imagined, but twinkling with stars, as bright as the night sky. Upon closer inspection, I found that the lights came from strange symbols carved on the cave walls. They emitted a faint light, as if silently telling something.

"These symbols... I seem to have seen them somewhere..." Dai Shiya murmured to herself. She felt that these symbols were familiar, but she couldn't remember where she had seen them exactly.

"Could this be the truth behind traveling through the book that we are looking for?" Wei Qing also realized something, with excitement gleaming in her eyes.

Dai Shiya nodded, she walked forward cautiously, stretched out her fingers and gently touched the symbols, trying to find some clues from them.

Suddenly, her feet felt empty, as if something had been triggered. With a "click" sound, countless cold lights shot out from all directions. When she looked closely, she saw that it was actually densely packed spikes!

"Be careful!" Wei Qing was quick-witted and pulled Dai Shiya away, and the two of them barely avoided the fatal attack.

However, before they could catch their breath, they heard earth-shaking footsteps behind them, and the monster actually chased in!

"roar--"

The monster's roar echoed in the narrow cave, deafening. Dai Shiya and Wei Qing leaned against the cold cave wall, watching the giant monster approaching step by step, their faces full of despair.

Spikes, monsters, unknown symbols...they seemed to be stuck in a dead end.

"What should I do..." Dai Shiya's voice trembled, she could feel the breath of death getting closer.

At this moment, Wei Qing's eyes suddenly lit up. She found that although the monster was huge in size, it had difficulty moving due to the narrow cave, especially when turning around, it looked particularly clumsy.

A bold idea formed in her mind.

"Follow me!" Wei Qing pulled Dai Shiya and ran in one direction...
