Chapter 60: Predictable Stubbornness

Every instinct in my body was demanding me to grab Aqua and run as far away from here as possible. 

The rational part of me knew that that wasn’t an option. I could do nothing but stand by Aqua’s side. I had to remind myself several times that Aqua said this guy wouldn’t hurt her. 

Aqua took a deep breath and turned to glance at me, her hand tight on the doorknob. “Remember, let me do all the talking,” she said. 

Not trusting myself to speak, I nodded. 

Aqua offered me a small, reassuring smile before pushing the door open. 

Aqua had said that Kalos reminded her and her cousins of Aiden Aster but I didn’t see it at all as we crossed the room to approach the stern-looking man. 

Kalos was sitting at a grand desk that looked laden with gold. He had an impressive long white beard that gave a sense of timelessness. I wondered idly how old he was, or if he possibly existed in time itself.
