Wave after wave of attacks crashed down, leaving the pale zombie overwhelmed. Blood dripped from the dagger, swirling like a mist of crimson, tearing through the zombie's sharp claws. "My blood!" Yang Tian roared, swinging the dagger again, severing the zombie's right wrist.
"Is it delicious?" Yang Tian continued his assault, his dagger slicing cleanly through the zombie's left hand, removing three of its fingers. In an instant, the roles were reversed—he became the hunter, and the zombie, the prey. The zombie attempted to escape into the mist, but Yang Tian pursued relentlessly, blood swirling around him as he delivered fatal blows.
Enraged, the pale zombie grabbed Yang Tian's shoulder with its left hand and lunged at him with its gaping maw. "Going all in, huh? You little scrap!" Yang Tian's gray-green eyes glinted with the reflection of his dagger as it danced through the air, the deadly strikes landing swiftly. The zombie's murky gaze widened; it was the last thing it would see.
"Congratulations, you've defeated the zombie mother! Points earned: 100!" As the bloodshed ceased, Yang Tian kicked the lifeless body, extracting a biocrystal from its head.
"Alert! Biocrystal (H) discovered. Edible. Effects: Increases hidden attributes and more, for the host to develop!" Excitement surged within Yang Tian. The mist began to clear, revealing the setting sun shining upon the crystal, which gleamed invitingly. Without hesitation, he swallowed it.
Just as he prepared to savor the crystal's benefits, the roar of a helicopter filled the air. He looked up to see a military chopper approaching. "Damn it, they must have noticed the commotion!" Yang Tian cursed, quickly picking up the fallen Barrett rifle and sprinting away.
"Boss! That's it, the blood-red zombie!" a soldier shouted excitedly from the helicopter. The female mercenary spotted Yang Tian's rifle through her binoculars. Orders were given, and the helicopter sped after him, but he vanished around a corner.
"Ha, think you can catch me?" Yang Tian smirked, darting through the streets until he found himself at a tightly locked villa. He burst through a window, shattering glass and wood, landing in the dimly lit interior.
Leaning against the wall, he felt utterly drained as the bloodstains faded from his body. The faint sound of shuffling zombie feet approached, and he growled in zombie language, "Get lost!" The ordinary zombies scattered in fear.
A wave of pain surged through him as the effects of his earlier power faded. The injuries from the brutal fight returned with a vengeance. Clutching the biocrystal in his hand, he felt a flicker of hope. After swallowing it, he gained a new skill: "Ethereal Fog," which released white mist around him and enhanced his self-healing abilities.
Elated, he felt himself growing stronger. Just then, a pair of striking blue eyes caught his attention. A black-haired girl, looking pale and terrified. Staring at her, Yang Tian momentarily lost focus, silently admiring her beauty.
The girl brandished a small handgun, trembling with fear. Yang Tian didn't want to disturb her; he turned to leave but found the door nailed shut. Reluctantly, he decided to exit through the window.
"Wait! I heard you talking!" her voice called out, filled with a mix of hope and fear. Yang Tian paused, glancing back at her. Her terrified expression deepened as she clutched the gun tighter. He sensed an insurmountable divide between himself and humanity and chose to remain silent, continuing to step outside.
"Could you help me find some food? I haven't eaten in days," she pleaded, her voice tinged with desperation. Yang Tian slowly faded from her sight.
