Familiar face.

My mom gasps. Dad clears his throat. "okay, I don't think you should talk to the DPO like that Tobi," my dad turns to the DPO. "And to you sir, I would appreciate if you stop riling my son. Even if he was gay, that's not a ground for assault. No one should be treated that way because of their sexual orientation."

Huh? Dad is defending gays?

"yes. Please stop hassling my son. If he has more to tell you, he'll come to you." My mom says.

I sigh in relief. Thank God my parents don't totally hate gays.

The DPO grumbles his acceptance. "well, we have to start going if there's nothing else." Both policemen stand up and we do the same. My parents shake them and try turn to leave.

"let me see them off." I say to mom and dad as I hurry after immediately I'm outside I'm outside, I walk straight to the DPO who is trying to open his car. The moment he sights me, he sighs deeply, looking irritated.

"how's the investigation going DPO? Any breakthrough?"

"not really. We just started the investigation, we haven't gone far yet."

I roll my eyes. "I mean, it's been some days now, shouldn't you have gotten anything? Do you guys sleep around all day?" I taunt.

"How dare you speak to me like that boy." He hiss.

"I don't think you can tell me how to speak to you 'considering' that I can afford to pay you to do your job…DPO"

"yeah, brag with your daddy's money." He says, looking like he thought he won the argument. Old fool. There are lots of things I could tell him that would crush his ugly wings, but since he's doing something really important to me, I'll just let this go.

"glad to have it." I say before turning away from him to go back into the house.

I'm in my office working when Mal comes back from work. I hear the front door open so I drop my sketch book to go find my sexy boyfriend.

Since my office is downstairs, I just walk out into the living room. Mal is leaning on the couch drinking a bottle of water. I'm about running to tackle him when I spot someone sitting in the couch.

I walk around the chair, it's Mel! Mal's little sister.

"Sup Mel, it's been a while." I go to her for a brief hug.

"Hi my brother's boyfriend." She says cheekily and Mal rolls his eyes.

"how have you been?" I squint. "The last time I saw you was in the hospital right."

She smiles sadly. "Yes it was." Tears filled her eyes. "I was so scared. Seeing you I the hospital like that scared me because I knew if.. if you had died, my brother would be alone like before."

"Hey," I sit beside her patting her back. "I'm okay. I'm healed now okay? And your brother won't be alone again because I won't let him alright?"

She chokes out a laugh. "Yeah I know you won't let him."

I turn to look at Mal, he's watching us with a small smile on his face. "hey baby, how was work."

"I should be asking you that, since this is your first day back." Mal says instead.

Mel quickly jumps up. "okay okay, I have to get going. I don't want to witness this mushy shit."

I laugh as she runs out the door. I stand up to go meet Mal. "hi." I place a kiss on his lips.

"How was work?"

"it went well, aside the letter."

he hums.

"hope you're not worried about it?"

"nah, how can I worry about anything when my boyfriend is this good looking."

He laughs. "you're so corny."

I smirk. "Says the mister I'll kill for you."

His laugh deepens.

"Well, I will." His lips find mine.

I pull back when I remember something.

"Thank you babe." I tell him.

He looks confused. "For what?"

"The police have finally caught the thugs who attacked me."

He grumbles. "Had a better way of handling them.

"Yeah I know. But this is the right way."

"If you say so." He teases.

He's about to kiss me but stops.

"What is it?" I ask.

"I just remembered something. Close to my closing hours, I received a call from my P.I, he says he's been able to get a profile of the woman that runs the child trafficking ring." He checks the time. "He said he'll forward the information to me. He should have sent it by now."

"really?" I ask, excited. "That fast? I'm so fucking impressed."

He pulls away, going over to the couch where he dumped his work bag. He pulls out his laptop and types on it.

"here. He's sent it." I rush over to his side to see.

He opens the document and pulls the laptop back so I could see.

"The woman's real name is Lucy Adebayo, although she goes by different names. She's from Ogun state, and from thorough digging, it appears she has multiple fake IDs which she uses to go around. Hmmm, a lot of people have tied her to several missing children cases but there seems to be no evidence to pin her down."

He scrolls through the pages. "no permanent residence. She hops from one apartment to another" he scrolls down again. "have lots of people working for her, mostly thugs." Scrolls. "Ooh, here's a picture of the woman." He zooms in and I stretch to see the picture. Huh. A middle aged woman, looking to be around her forties. She looks familiar though.

"can you zoom in more? She seems to look familiar." He zooms in, but the picture isn't clear enough. "Can you check is there's another?"

He scrolls down and there, a clear picture jogs my memory. This is one of my customers. I remember her. Shit. She's that crazy lady that came few weeks back that threatened me.

"do you know her?" Mal asks.

"Yes." I whisper. She came to sew a dress at my place a while back. She even threatened me the last time she came because of a bad zipper."

"Bad zipper?"

"yeah. She spoilt the zip of the dress and accused us of being bad tailors so we exchanged a few words and stomped out after threatening me. I never thought she would even go through with it."

"What the hell?" he mutters.

"Yeah, what the hell?" I scratch my head. "she must have been after me before she found out that I was after her, well not knowing it was her."

"yes, she must have been stalking you. Probably was looking for something to hurt you or to spoil your image."

"Yeah."

"don't you have her address?"

"Address? How will her have her ad- oh yes, I delivered clothes to her right?" I hurry to stand up but stop. "she might have moved when she found out I was after that account."

"Yeah, but we won't loose anything by trying."

"yes yes that's true." I jump up.

"Where are you going?" Mal asks, standing up too.

"To my office, all customers files are in there." I answer as I rush to grab my car keys.

"okay, good idea. I'll go with you."

"thank you." I say as we walk out the door.

In no time, we're on our way to my workplace.
