Mia was only meant to write the story, not live it. Kade wrapped an arm around Arianna, a slight smile forming on his face. The first thing he noticed were the tears welling in her eyes, making him wonder what had happened and why Beta Jeffrey sounded angry as he approached the court from the hallway.

He ran his fingers through Arianna's hair, kissing her forehead, causing her to melt in his arms.

"Are you okay?" he asked softly, his voice barely more than a whisper.

Arianna nodded, sniffling and stepping beside him, shifting his attention to Jeffrey. Jeffrey bowed once more as the Alpha's eyes met his. The two men exchanged a smile before Alpha Kade walked by him to sit on his throne, resting his still-healing arm comfortably.

"What did I miss?" he asked, exhaling with some difficulty. "Don't stop on my account. What was the argument about, disturbing the entire palace?"
