Chapter 64: No grandkids

Leonid quickly looked at his father, his face was that of stupefied. Silence prevailed between them as they stared at each other for a moment.

"Breakfast is ready!"

Katerina's voice from the kitchen snapped them both to their senses.

"Perfect timing, I think you're hungry." Dmitry said and stood up, "Get up now."

Leonid got out of bed and followed his father out of the room. As they made their way downstairs, they saw Katerina opening a door, and Mikhail stepping inside.

"Mishka, you're here!" Dmitry cried in delight, "How have you been? You should join us for breakfast."

Mikhail glanced at them, his eyes meeting Leonid's. They stared at each other for a second before Mikhail looked away and turned to look at Dmitry.

"Good morning. I'm sorry for this early visit."
