Lame Excuse

Warlock Ch 133. Lame Excuse

Damian made a face that could only be described as 'What kind of lame excuse is that?' But before he could voice his irritation, Cassius continued.

"Besides," Cassius said, setting his cup down neatly, "you're the one who forced yourself here in the first place. You're not fully healed—I know your body must still ache. And I'd wager you did something to Evelyn to make her let you leave. So, instead of complaining, I suggest you prove your words."

Damian cringed inwardly. 'He knows me too well…' He could already hear Evelyn's voice in his head, scolding him for rushing into things yet again.

Cassius leaned back calmly. "Oh, and one more thing, Damian," he added, his voice calm but pointed. "You shouldn't take your eyes off your enemy for too long."

Damian's smirk widened. "I know."
