Chapter 78: The Tianyu Royal Family Takes Action
"Missing?" Luo Qingtong asked, a calm smile on her face, her expression unruffled by surprise.
"It happened on the day of the Zuihong Tower incident, the Marquis departed, and you, Miss, entered the secret room," the guard reported, kneeling before Luo Qingtong with respect.
This was Mr. Luo's personal bodyguard, a man of unwavering loyalty, who followed orders from Mr. Luo alone—though now Luo Qingtong was also his charge.
"My subordinates and I failed in our duties. The third lady was kidnapped en route. We have searched all of Fenglin City but found no trace of her! Please punish me, eldest lady!" the iron guard said, his voice laden with guilt.
He was deeply troubled by Luo Xinning's abduction from his watch and felt he had let down both the Marquis and the eldest lady.
In the past few days, he had waited outside the study, ready to report to Luo Qingtong as soon as she emerged.
"It's okay, this isn't your fault. Some forces are beyond our control," Luo Qingtong reassured him, already aware of the underlying events.
"The Tianyu royal family acted swiftly indeed! To think they kidnapped her as soon as the news broke," she mused.
It wasn't for nothing that she had made a spectacle of carrying the unconscious, blood-vomiting Luo Xinning back from Zuihong Tower, ensuring the news spread throughout the city.
Clearly, the royal family had stepped in to cover up for Yu Wenxue.
Luo Qingtong sneered. This confirmed her suspicions of the Tianyu royal family's covert presence in Fenglin City.
They were aware of Yu Wenxue's intentions against the original heir and knew of Luo Xinning's complicity, yet they did nothing to prevent it. Perhaps they were even orchestrating it from behind the scenes.
"If that weren't the case, how could the Zhenguo Marquis Mansion, so influential in the Dongli Kingdom, be left in the dark and allow the original heir to be plotted against so thoroughly?" she pondered. "In the end, we almost couldn't even find the body!"
"Very good," Luo Qingtong said, her smile both unrestrained and enchanting as everything fell into place.
"So, the wrongdoer has a master, and the debtor has a lord. Tianyu Royal Family, let the games begin! Neither they nor Luo Xinning will escape. My vengeance will be exacting," she vowed.
"Okay, you don't need to worry about this," she continued lightly. "You will take over the management of the house. I am going out for a while. Tell grandfather not to worry—I'll be back soon! And if anyone dares to cause trouble in the Luo family while I'm away, kill them all, no exceptions."
Her tone was lethal as she spoke.
The engagement between the Luo and Yuwen families was soon to be terminated, a fact which could incite further conflicts.
Although Luo Qingtong held no animosity towards her own family members, she wouldn't hesitate to act against any internal collusions with outsiders.
"No matter who it is, they will face death," she declared, her resolve firm.
"All the iron guards," she commanded, receiving a unanimous "Yes!" in response.
Nodding, Luo Qingtong left the Luo family's compound. She swiftly set up an intricate and hidden defensive perimeter around it—a safeguard against any potential troubles from the Tianyu royal family following the broken engagement.
After ensuring everything was in place, she departed Fenglin City with a serene demeanor, prepared for whatever might come.
