The room was eerily quiet except for the occasional creak of the apartment walls. Yoru sat cross-legged on the floor, staring intently at Aira, who sat on her knees in front of him. She had her hands folded neatly in her lap, her violet eyes wide and sparkling as if she were being interrogated by an overly dramatic detective.
"Aira," Yoru started, his tone low and deliberate, but the faintest trace of comic exasperation laced his voice.
"Y-Yes, Master?" Aira squeaked, her voice rising an octave as she straightened her posture.
Yoru pointed an accusatory finger at her, his expression dead serious. "How did we merge into one? What kind of magic cat-human fusion ritual was that?!"
Aira blinked, tilting her head to one side, her black ears twitching. "I don't know, Master! But it felt so good to be one with you!" she exclaimed innocently, her cheeks slightly flushed.
