The Suitor

The next morning, Ginny avoided her phone like it was a ticking time bomb.

She put it inside her pocket, forgotten, determined to let it buzz and vibrate without her. She had no desire to see anything it might have to show her.

When she stepped out of her dorm, the early chill brushing against her cheeks, she wasn't surprised to see Cass leaning casually against the railing, his usual cocky grin plastered across his face.

"Morning, sunshine." he greeted, falling into step beside her as she closed her dorm door.

Ginny glanced at him, raising an eyebrow. "You're up early."

"Had to be," Cass said, shoving his hands into his jacket pockets. "I had to personally tie down Lyle to the bed to make sure he wouldn't sneak out of the clinic to walk you. Guy's stubborn as hell."

Ginny sighed, the sound long and drawn out.

"Maybe I should just start walking alone." she muttered, more to herself than him.
