Zhang Wei and Shen reunited in the capital, each sharing their visions and mysterious encounters. They both agreed that the Well of Souls, an ancient and forbidden site buried deep within the spiritual realm, was their only lead. Legends spoke of it as the place where souls, including those of celestial beings, passed before ascending to the higher realms. It was said that the Well held the secrets to life, death, and rebirth—but that none who entered ever returned.
Their journey led them to the farthest reaches of the kingdom, to the edge of the Abyssal Vale, where the veil between the mortal and spiritual realms was thinnest. Along the way, they were joined by an unexpected ally—a young woman named Xinyi, an orphan from the capital with a mysterious past. Though she seemed ordinary at first glance, Zhang Wei sensed an extraordinary strength within her, as if she too was connected to the spiritual energies of the world.
Xinyi claimed to have no memory of her childhood, only that she had always been drawn to places of spiritual significance. Her arrival in the capital just as the Phoenix flame began to stir could not have been a coincidence, and despite her initial reluctance, she agreed to join Zhang Wei and Shen on their quest.
Together, the trio crossed into the spiritual realm, where they faced trials that tested not just their strength, but their understanding of the delicate balance of energies. The Well of Souls was guarded by ancient spirits, beings who had watched over the cycle of life and death for millennia. But something had changed within the Well—its light had dimmed, and the spirits were restless.
At the heart of the Well, they discovered the source of the disturbance: the Phoenix's flame had been trapped, its cycle of reincarnation interrupted. Without it, the balance of the spiritual realm was slowly unraveling, and dark forces were taking advantage of the weakening barriers between realms.
The only way to restore the Phoenix's flame, the spirits revealed, was to reunite it with the soul it had once inhabited. But doing so would come at a great cost
