Riddlers, Get Out of Dragon Ball

The strength of the angels remains highly valuable even in the later stages of Dragon Ball Super. For Zuke, who is still striving to reach the level of Frieza from the original Dragon Ball era, this feels like a dimensional downgrade.

Fortunately, Whis seems relatively amiable and hasn't shown any hostility toward him.

In the original series, Whis has indeed displayed a serious demeanor at times. Even though angels generally don't actively involve themselves in universal affairs, they still have their own inclinations.

"No need to be nervous, Mr. Zuke... Although I don't know how you learned about us angels, I'm not here to cause you trouble."

Whis, noticing Zuke's tense expression, couldn't help but chuckle lightly.

"This is quite different from the Saiyans I know. I thought Saiyans always sought to challenge those stronger than themselves. I was even prepared to fight you."

"I don't engage in battles I know I can't win. Even if it's a challenge, the feeling of defeat isn't pleasant—training is a different matter, though."

Zuke was quite candid about this. He naturally had no interest in fights where he stood no chance—Whis's strength far surpassed even that of Merus, a trainee angel. There was no way Zuke could win.

Even Merus, without using his angelic powers, could easily dominate him in training, let alone Whis. Zuke had no habit of seeking out such humiliation.

However, it was true that Saiyans enjoyed challenging stronger opponents—just like Goku in the original series, who would go out of his way to spar with Beerus, the God of Destruction.

The same went for Vegeta in the early days. To witness greater power, he would even allow his enemies to grow stronger, a trait often referred to as the Saiyan tendency to "play around."

"I can see that. As Merus mentioned, Mr. Zuke is quite different from other Saiyans, not just in strength but also in mindset."

Whis nodded, seemingly quite pleased with Zuke—although he didn't dislike the Saiyan mentality of challenging stronger foes, as an angel, he appreciated this calmer disposition more.

"But the reason I had Merus bring you here isn't just to chat about Saiyans... Do you know why I called you here?"

As soon as Zuke heard this kind of question, he felt a headache coming on. Instead of stating the issue directly, Whis posed a question, "Do you know why?" It felt like a teacher putting a student on the spot.

Riddlers should have been kicked out of Dragon Ball long ago. Don't you remember what happened to Goku, who played the riddler throughout the Cell Games?

Of course, while Zuke thought this, he still had to answer. He pondered carefully about what he had done that could be related to the angels.

Was it about Merus training him? Unlikely. In Dragon Ball Super, when Merus trained Goku without using angelic powers, Whis didn't intervene.

This meant that Merus training Zuke within certain limits wasn't an issue.

After much thought, Zuke could only think of one possibility. He spoke to Whis with some concern:

"Is it about the cube spaceship?"

The cube spaceship was a vehicle belonging to the angels and the Gods of Destruction. Under normal circumstances, no one else could obtain it unless it was gifted by an angel or a God of Destruction.

Currently, in Universe 7, aside from Whis and Beerus, only Zuno possessed one.

In Dragon Ball Super, as a condition for participating in the tournament between Universes 6 and 7, Hit from Universe 6 also requested one from their angel, which even startled their God of Destruction, Champa.

So Zuke suspected that his theft of Zuno's cube spaceship had been discovered, and now Whis was here to hold him accountable.

To be honest, Zuke really didn't want to give up the cube spaceship. He had thought Whis wouldn't notice, which was why he used the Dragon Balls to wish for modifications to the ship.

If he had to hand it over now, it would be a huge loss.

However, to Zuke's surprise, after hearing his words, Whis was taken aback and turned to Merus:

"What cube spaceship?"

Wait, so it's not about the cube spaceship?

Seeing Merus's wry smile, Zuke couldn't help but feel even more frustrated—apparently, Whis hadn't even noticed the cube spaceship issue, and Zuke had just exposed himself.

But this only deepened Zuke's confusion. If it wasn't about the cube spaceship, what else could he have done that was related to the angels?

Nothing, right? It couldn't be about the Heeters being connected to the angels, could it? Or was it about him killing Moro, which somehow affected the angels?

"I heard from Merus that you want to eliminate Frieza?"

Fortunately, Whis didn't seem intent on pursuing the cube spaceship matter for now and instead brought up another topic.

Whis didn't seem to doubt Zuke's ability to eliminate Frieza. After all, Merus had such high hopes for Zuke, so in Whis's eyes, it was only a matter of time before Zuke succeeded.

But this wasn't just about watching Frieza be eliminated. Whis asked:

"Do you know that Frieza has another duty besides his business?"

"..."

Zuke actually did know.

In the original series, Frieza was simply a cosmic emperor, a space mafia boss masquerading as a real estate tycoon.

But in Dragon Ball Super, Frieza was given a new role—he was Beerus's proxy. Given that Beerus slept for decades at a time, Frieza had to take on some of the duties of destruction.

At the time, Zuke found this addition rather absurd, but he never expected it to become a stumbling block for him in the Dragon Ball world.

When Goku defeated Frieza, it was an unexpected turn of events. Neither Whis nor Beerus had anticipated it, so they didn't hold Goku accountable.

But Zuke's intention to eliminate Frieza was something Whis had learned about while monitoring Merus. Thus, Whis had to call Zuke over in advance to clarify the stakes.

"It seems you do know."

Whis looked somewhat surprised at Zuke's expression. His silence clearly indicated that he was aware of the details.

Now even Whis was curious about where Zuke had gathered so much information. Did he have some prophetic ability like the Oracle Fish?

But Whis didn't dwell on this and instead continued:

"Lord Beerus is still asleep. According to the Oracle Fish, he'll be asleep for several more decades... If you eliminate Frieza, there will be no one to carry out the duties of destruction."

If no one performed the duties of destruction, the accumulation of low-quality planets would drag down the universe's rating, and it might eventually be erased by Zeno.

So having no one to carry out the duties of destruction was a serious matter.

But upon hearing this, Zuke's heart stirred—Whis's words didn't sound like a reprimand but rather seemed to hint at something.

Before Zuke could speak, Merus, standing beside Whis, interjected:

"Then why not let Zuke take on the duties of destruction?"
