Chika Fujiwara Makes a Decision

"You really come here every morning, huh?"

During breakfast, Shin glanced at Gabriel standing beside him—just like yesterday morning, she had come over to do her maid duties.

She was dressed in a maid outfit, looking quite adorable, though the dark circles under her eyes were so prominent that Shin was worried she might suddenly collapse from exhaustion.

Despite her inability to break the habit of staying up late playing games, she still came to his house every morning before he woke up to work as a maid, all to earn some money. Just thinking about it made him feel tired.

This reminded Shin of Hayasaka Ai—Hayasaka also balanced school and maid work, which must have been quite exhausting.

But Hayasaka had been doing it since she was young and was used to it. Plus, she didn't have the habit of staying up late playing games, so it wasn't as extreme as Gabriel's situation.

Shin was now worried that Gabriel's goal was to collapse and die in his house, then frame him for it—after all, angels probably couldn't actually die.

"Don't worry, I'm fine."

Gabriel seemed to notice the concern in Shin's gaze and quickly patted her flat chest, as if trying to show how tough she was.

But after a couple of pats, she started coughing violently, leaving Shin speechless:

"You don't have to come every morning. You can just come after school to work. Don't push yourself too hard."

"It's fine, I'll catch up on sleep during class."

Unexpectedly, Gabriel had no intention of accepting his suggestion. Instead, she very seriously said something that would have infuriated a good student like Vignette.

"After all, Tohru said that if I work hard every day, she might consider directly depositing my salary into my gaming account."

"So that's why you're doing this."

Hearing this, Shin finally understood why Gabriel was willing to drag herself over to his house early in the morning despite her dark circles.

So Tohru had actually agreed to deposit her salary into her gaming account... It just goes to show that while Gabriel usually acts like a slacker, when it comes to games, she can summon an astonishing amount of determination.

Though this determination didn't seem like a good thing, and Vignette would definitely scold her harshly if she found out.

But that wasn't something Shin could control.

...

In the morning, at the Shuchiin Academy student council room, Kaguya Shinomiya seemed to remember something and suddenly looked up at Chika Fujiwara, who was lounging on the couch:

"Speaking of which, Fujiwara-san, didn't you say you were going to investigate that Shin guy?"

Hearing this, Fujiwara, who had been playing on her phone, froze for a moment, as if recalling something unpleasant.

Kaguya didn't notice Fujiwara's momentary reaction and continued curiously:

"Did you find out anything? I asked Hayasaka again yesterday, but she still wouldn't tell me anything and told me to ask you..."

Hayasaka, you're so mean!

Fujiwara immediately realized that Hayasaka had deliberately set her up, as she was the one who knew exactly what had happened after school yesterday.

That Shin, who might end up in an arranged marriage with Kaguya, had actually done *that* with Hayasaka—wasn't that just cheating?

Fujiwara didn't know much about Shin's situation, but in her mind, if they were going to be engaged, they should eventually become husband and wife. For Shin to do something like that with someone other than Kaguya was outright infidelity.

But what she had witnessed after school yesterday was a bit too shocking, and since Kaguya clearly trusted Hayasaka a lot, Fujiwara wasn't sure how to respond.

Should she just tell Kaguya what she saw after school yesterday? Would that be too much of a shock for Kaguya? And wouldn't that mean Hayasaka had betrayed Kaguya?

It would probably devastate Kaguya, right?

Although Fujiwara was a bit scatterbrained and airheaded, she genuinely cared about Kaguya. Her expression shifted several times before finally settling into an awkward smile:

"I... I haven't finished investigating yet. I might need a bit more time!"

That's right, Fujiwara ultimately couldn't bring herself to reveal everything she had seen after school yesterday and chose to keep it hidden for now.

It wasn't that she wanted to cover for a scumbag. Fujiwara just felt that if she spilled everything outright, it would hurt Kaguya too much.

So Fujiwara secretly made a decision.

—Since that Shin guy was capable of doing such shameless things, she would find a way to straighten him out!

As the descendant of a political family, Fujiwara knew very well that things arranged by families were difficult to cancel.

Kaguya would most likely be married off to Shin by the Shinomiya family, and if Fujiwara revealed the truth, it would only add to Kaguya's troubles.

In that case, it would be better for Fujiwara to quietly help Kaguya in the background—for example, by "reforming" Shin and turning him into a responsible, family-oriented man!

Although Fujiwara herself had no experience in matters of love, her theoretical knowledge was extensive, and she believed she could correct Shin's behavior.

Today, she wouldn't involve Hayasaka. She would go to Private Toyosaki School herself and have a proper one-on-one talk with Shin!

Fortunately, she had already gotten Shin's contact information from Hayasaka at school yesterday, so she could reach him without going through Hayasaka.

"Is that so...?"

Hearing Fujiwara say she hadn't finished investigating, Kaguya was a bit puzzled but decided to trust her for now.

Kaguya noticed that Fujiwara seemed a bit nervous but wasn't sure if it was related to Shin, so she decided to keep her doubts to herself and ask again later if the opportunity arose.

...

While Kaguya and Fujiwara were talking, Shin's classroom also welcomed an unexpected visitor.

Utaha Kasumigaoka arrived at the entrance of Shin's classroom—this famous beauty and academic achiever naturally attracted a lot of attention.

"Hello, could you call Shin for me?"

Kasumigaoka ignored the stares from others; she was used to this kind of attention.

At the back door of the classroom, she stopped a female student and asked for Shin.

Instantly, the gazes of everyone in the classroom shifted from Kasumigaoka to Shin, who was chatting with Megumi Kato.
