"You actually admitted it just like that?"
Utaha 's practiced expression faltered with surprise. She had thought Shin might deny it first and wouldn't admit such a thing so quickly.
She had even prepared to mention how she had previously seen Shin disappearing on the street with a car—after all, supernatural abilities couldn't just be casually revealed to outsiders.
Could it be that, in Shin's eyes, she was no longer considered an outsider?
At this thought, Utaha Kasumigaoka felt a bit shy—despite her bold actions earlier, she was actually quite delicate inside, being someone who could write light novels with romantic themes.
However, Shin was unaware of Utaha Kasumigaoka's inner thoughts. If he had known, given his poor emotional intelligence, he would have been utterly bewildered.
The reason he revealed this to Utaha Kasumigaoka was purely because his current strength was more than sufficient. Even if a few more people knew, it wouldn't cause him any trouble.
After all, Utaha Kasumigaoka wasn't the type to spread others' secrets around. She wouldn't make Shin's "supernatural abilities" public just because she knew about them—this was something Shin understood well.
Shin set down his coffee and smiled faintly at Utaha Kasumigaoka.
"Since you're now a member of the Paranormal Research Club, and you're interested in such special phenomena, there's no need for me to hide it."
"..."
"Is there anything else you'd like to know?"
Hearing this, Utaha Kasumigaoka pondered for a moment. Although she had confirmed that Shin indeed possessed "supernatural abilities," she still knew nothing about the specifics.
So she quickly looked up, her eyes filled with curiosity as she asked eagerly:
"Then... can you show me your 'ability'?"
Though she appeared as an aloof, hard-to-approach senior to outsiders, when encountering something that piqued her interest, her enthusiastic expression wasn't much different from that of an ordinary girl.
"To be precise, it should be called 'Stand ability.'"
Just like Kaguya and Chika, whom they had met the night before, her eyes sparkled with a thirst for knowledge about "supernatural abilities."
Shin nodded and spoke—but as soon as the first half of his sentence left his mouth, his figure vanished from his seat.
Then, Utaha Kasumigaoka heard Shin's voice suddenly continue from right beside her:
"The source of this 'supernatural ability' is called a 'Stand.' Its power comes from the depths of the soul."
Utaha Kasumigaoka was startled and turned to look beside her—sure enough, Shin had already appeared seated next to her.
This made her heart race uncontrollably—was this what she had seen through the window earlier?
In reality, there was a difference. This time, Shin hadn't used instant teleportation but had instead stopped time with "Blackbird: The World," leisurely walked over, and sat down beside Utaha Kasumigaoka.
To someone unaware of time-stop, it simply looked like teleportation.
Moreover, Utaha Kasumigaoka had genuinely seen Shin use teleportation before, so it was natural for her to mistake it as such.
Logically, having confirmed Shin's possession of "supernatural abilities" and even witnessing him use them firsthand, Utaha Kasumigaoka's curiosity should have been satisfied.
But human desires are insatiable. Seeing how casually Shin mentioned the existence of "Stands" and their abilities, Utaha Kasumigaoka suddenly had a bold idea:
"Shin, this 'Stand' you mentioned... can I have one too?"
The main reason this thought occurred to her was Shin's overly nonchalant tone when discussing Stand abilities.
It made it seem as though abilities many would covet were utterly trivial in Shin's eyes.
And that was indeed the case. Though Shin had acquired many abilities through "Blackbird," he truly looked down on other Stands.
If he were facing Dio now, Shin would very much like to tell him: "Blackbird is the strongest Stand. Whether in ability or stat potential, it far surpasses your The World."
"You want to awaken a Stand too?"
Shin glanced at Utaha Kasumigaoka, somewhat surprised.
But thinking about it, it made sense. Before this, Utaha Kasumigaoka had never had the opportunity to come into contact with such things. Now that she finally had the chance, it was only natural for her to want to experience it firsthand.
Seeing Utaha Kasumigaoka's eager expression, Shin didn't refuse. He simply slowly extended his hand.
The "arrow" fell from Blackbird's body. To Utaha Kasumigaoka, it seemed to materialise out of thin air before landing in Shin's palm.
Before his transmigration, in the series Shin had watched, Megumi, Eriri, and Utaha could be considered the three main heroines.
Now, neither Kato Megumi nor Eriri had the potential for a Stand. Shin was curious whether Utaha Kasumigaoka possessed this latent ability.
If she didn't, then the heroines of this work would be completely devoid of Stands.
"This 'arrow' can determine whether you have the potential for a Stand."
As Shin spoke, he placed his open palm in front of Utaha Kasumigaoka.
Then, Utaha Kasumigaoka saw the golden "arrow" in Shin's hand suddenly tremble before abruptly pointing toward her as if drawn by a magnet.
This scene stunned Utaha Kasumigaoka, sending her heart racing.
The "arrow" pointing at her—didn't that mean she had the potential Shin had mentioned?
Shin, too, looked at Utaha Kasumigaoka in surprise—who would've thought that while Kato Megumi and Eriri lacked Stand potential, Utaha Kasumigaoka, the last one he'd met, possessed it?
Just as Utaha Kasumigaoka was about to ask something, a voice interrupted:
"Why are you two sitting together!?"
Utaha Kasumigaoka froze and looked up to see Eriri, who had just returned from the restroom.
Eriri was glaring discontentedly at Shin and Utaha Kasumigaoka—earlier, to demonstrate Stand abilities to Utaha Kasumigaoka, Shin had moved to sit beside her.
Naturally, Eriri assumed Utaha Kasumigaoka had lured Shin over, her face filled with displeasure toward the latter.
Shin smiled wryly and was about to stand when he suddenly felt Utaha Kasumigaoka grab his hand.
"I'm also a member of the Paranormal Research Club. Can't I sit with the club president?"
Utaha Kasumigaoka raised an eyebrow at Eriri, leaning against Shin in an intimate manner.
Predictably, Eriri instantly bristled, sitting on Shin's other side and clinging to his other arm, refusing to be outdone.
Three people crowded onto one small chair, with Shin sandwiched between Eriri and Utaha Kasumigaoka, each holding one of his arms. The sight drew many curious glances from others in the café.
