Chapter 62: Public Trial

"Is this Uchiha Itachi's Tsukuyomi?"

Among the ruins, battered and drenched in blood, Danzo nearly lost his balance, beads of cold sweat forming on his brow.

Struggling to stay upright, he stared at Kiyoshi with a look of defiance, unwilling to believe what he was experiencing.

"Impossible. I have a Mangekyo Sharingan too. There's no way I'd fall into such an illusion…"

After all, he possessed Shisui's Mangekyo Sharingan.

Even if he couldn't fully resist Tsukuyomi, it should've been enough to prevent him from falling into such a deep illusion without even realizing it.

Was the gap between them truly this vast?

No, he refused to believe it.

"If it were Shisui himself, maybe he could see through Tsukuyomi's flaws," Kiyoshi mocked openly.

"But you, Danzo… All you have is the transplanted eye of an Uchiha, barely maintained by cells from the First Hokage. You're nowhere close."

As he spoke, Danzo's furious, despairing gaze locked on him.

Then, before Danzo's eyes, Shisui's transplanted eye—pierced by vines—began to wither at an alarming rate.

The eye was reduced to ash, its power consumed.

"Damn you!" Danzo clenched his left fist, eyes red with rage.

"Ishikawa Kiyoshi, you scum… do you have any idea how valuable that eye was?"

It was a priceless asset he had obtained through every possible scheme.

It was his greatest weapon for one day unifying the ninja world as Hokage.

And now, it was gone.

"It was just an eye, easily disposable," Kiyoshi said with a smile.

He'd never reveal to Danzo that he'd already acquired Kotoamatsukami, the ultimate Genjutsu.

And with his mastery of Yang Release, he'd fully regenerate the chakra needed to use it again in just a few short months.

"Damn…"

Danzo's eyes turned cold, and with grim determination, he charged at Kiyoshi. "You brat, your existence is a threat to Konoha! Even if it costs me my life—"

Desperation clouded his mind. He knew now that his opponent would never spare him.

Naturally, he wouldn't debase himself by begging for mercy.

And there was no one left—no family of Kiyoshi's he could use against him.

If he, Shimura Danzo, were to die, he'd at least take Kiyoshi with him.

"Trying to take me down with you?" Kiyoshi's expression was calm, almost indifferent.

"What makes you think you've even escaped Tsukuyomi yet? Perhaps you're still deep within my illusion."

With those words, Danzo's eyes widened in shock.

In an instant…

The scene around him transformed once more.

He was now bound to a cross in front of the Hokage Building, utterly immobilized.

His right arm was restored, and his right eye was Sharingan.

But there he was, exposed for all to see, completely vulnerable before the crowd of Konoha's shinobi and villagers.

Next to him, similarly bound to crosses, were the Third Hokage, Mitokado Homura, and Koharu Utatane—all members of Konoha's highest ranks.

Below them, the villagers and shinobi of Konoha gathered, their faces full of anger.

On the rooftop of the Hokage Building stood Tsunade, holding up the Hokage hat that Danzo had coveted for so long.

She announced with pride, "From today onward, I am the Fifth Hokage!"

"Yes! Tsunade-sama!"

"Long live the Hokage!"

"Tsunade-sama, please begin the trial of these traitors!"

"Sarutobi Hiruzen, Shimura Danzo, Mitokado Homura, Utatane Koharu… all of them should be hanged!"

"Konoha was once so powerful, but under the control of these conspirators, our strongest shinobi either perished or left!"

"Yes, they bear undeniable responsibility for Konoha's decline!"

"Tsunade-sama, don't let them get away with this!"

"Hang them! Hang them all!"

"No, that's too merciful!"

"They deserve to be cut into pieces!"

"Especially Danzo!"

"He conspired multiple times to eliminate the village's shinobi, even collaborating with rogue ninjas like Orochimaru, sacrificing children for horrific human experiments…"

"Look at his arm and his eyes… utterly repulsive!"

"He always accused the Uchiha clan of ambition, but the real wolf in sheep's clothing was him all along!"

"His whole body is filled with Sharingan, even with the face of the First Hokage!"

"Such a disgusting man wanted to be Hokage?"

"Does he ever look at himself in the mirror?"

"Yes, he should be skinned alive, his bones ground to dust!"

As the crowd glared at Danzo, Hiruzen, and the others bound to their crosses, their anger flared.

The gathered villagers and shinobi shouted in fury.

Rotten eggs, wilted vegetables, and foul liquids were hurled at Danzo and the other fallen leaders, covering them in filth, reeking and degraded, now even lower than beggars.

"Damn you all, how dare you treat us this way!"

Bound and powerless to resist, Hiruzen, Homura, and Koharu cursed furiously, "We should have killed you all long ago!"

But their mouths were soon stuffed with the rotten eggs and foul liquids thrown by the crowd.

"Danzo, do you admit your guilt?"

Tsunade, glared down at Danzo.

"Tsunade… no, Kiyoshi, I will never admit guilt…" Even soaked in filth, his stench unbearable, Danzo's eyes blazed with anger.

"Everything I did was for Konoha's sake! I did nothing wrong!"

"Is that so?"

Immediately, Tsunade's figure transformed into that of the Second Hokage.

"Sensei, everything was Danzo's doing. We're innocent…"

"Sensei, have mercy."

"It was all Danzo's fault."

Seeing the stern face of the Second Hokage, Hiruzen, Homura, and Koharu turned pale, terror in their eyes.

They pleaded loudly, pushing all the blame onto Danzo.

With a look of deep disappointment, Tobirama gazed at Danzo. "Danzo, you've truly let me down."

"It seems my choice was right after all; the monkey was always a better fit for Hokage than you."

"Arrgh…"

Danzo's eyes widened with fury.

His wrinkled face flushed red, twisted with rage. "Ishikawa Kiyoshi!!!"

How dare this insolent brat humiliate him this way.

He was no less worthy than Hiruzen.

"Execution!"

At Tobirama's command, each villager, each shinobi, was handed a knife.

With disdain and contempt, they approached Danzo one by one.

"You're repulsive…"

"Not even human or beast. Die!"

"And you wanted to be Hokage? Look in a mirror…"

"Once, Konoha had the Senju, the Uchiha, the White Fang, the Legendary Sannin, the Yellow Flash. How strong we were…"

"The Senju were dismantled by your schemes, even the First Hokage's grandson wasn't spared."

"The Hyuga clan's spirit was crushed, the Uchiha clan wiped out…"

"The White Fang was driven to suicide, the Sannin forced to leave, one by one!"

"If you hadn't driven away our strongest, would the Fourth Hokage have died?"

"Konoha's decline is entirely your doing!"

After spitting on him, each villager plunged their blade into Danzo without mercy.

Relentless mockery and searing pain assaulted him, wave after wave.

"Arrgh…"

His entire body trembled, drenched in cold sweat.

Consumed by the agony, he grit his teeth and roared, "Damn you, Kiyoshi! I will never submit! Do your worst!"

"Arrgh…"

"Buried underground to protect Konoha's roots?"

"Stop flattering yourself! You merely exploited Root to seize power and fulfill your ambitions."

"At least real roots can draw water from underground to nourish the tree."

"All Root has done is hurt Konoha's own shinobi."

"Claiming to protect Konoha, but the hypocrisy is staggering!"

"Do you truly believe your own lies after repeating them so often?"

"You demand sacrifices from others, yet flinch at the thought of your own—repulsive!"

"You, Danzo, with your selfish, deceitful nature—how dare you dream of being Hokage?"

"Spit!"

One hour, two hours, three hours…

Not only were his body and soul shredded by endless blades, but the unceasing ridicule pierced Danzo's very heart.

For Danzo, prideful and ambitious, those words were sharper than any blade, stabbing straight into his chest.

Three days and three nights passed.

Even Danzo, self-proclaimed battle-hardened and strong-willed, couldn't withstand it.

"Arrgh!"
