Chen Tang returned home, having already calmed his emotions.
He opened the front door and saw Black Pot cooking. The meal was almost ready, and several maids were chatting and laughing with Dogzi. Upon seeing him, they hurriedly stifled their laughter.
Chen Tang set down the steamed buns, which were still steaming hot, but the breakfast Black Pot had prepared was clearly more extravagant, with four dishes, both vegetarian and meat, and congee had been made, along with two plates of cold dishes.
"Who bought the groceries?" Chen Tang wondered.
Servants from the Chen Mansion wouldn't usually buy so much.
A maid pointed at Black Pot.
Chen Tang put down the buns and went to the backyard, where he saw Chen Shi combing their mother's hair. It was clear that he rarely did this—it was difficult for him to comb from the roots in one go.
"Let me do it."
