Beiye Zhengzong, to all martial artists of Japan, was like a deity to ordinary people; he was a legend, a myth, or perhaps a true god.
In his era, the title of Sword Saint was his alone.
In Japan Martial Arts, the title of Sword Saint is an extremely exalted one, typically only the Emperor could confer, bestowing it upon the most powerful swordsman of the era.
Beiye Zhengzong, at the age of twenty-five, received the Emperor's conferment, and became the Sword Saint.
By the age of twenty, Beiye Zhengzong was already unrivaled in the entire Japan Martial Arts community, and even when entering the shrine to challenge the Ghost God, he was fearless, and although he would be grievously injured, he could still leave unscathed.
When he reached sixty, he once again entered the shrine to challenge the Ghost God, and this time he was able to leave without a scratch.
The Sword Saint, Beiye Zhengzong, was not on the same level as the current top ten Sword Saints of Japan.
