The clan elders gathered around the flickering fire, their faces illuminated by the dancing flames. They spoke in hushed tones, their voices barely audible over the crackling wood.
"It's unthinkable," Kael said, shaking his head. "A servant, brutally slain. The wounds were... unnatural."
(Kael is one of the highest servant leader of whole clans)
Lira nodded in agreement. "I've never seen anything like it. The precision, the brutality... it's as if the attacker was inhuman."
(Lira was also one of the highest servant *kael big sister)
The others murmured in assent, their eyes scanning the darkness beyond the fire.
"We've had disputes with humans before," Kael said, "but this... this is something else entirely."
Jiang voice was laced with skepticism. "You think a human couldn't have done this?"
Lira shook her head. "I've seen humans fight, Thorne. This was calculated, deliberate. It's not their style."
Kael leaned forward, his eyes burning with intensity. "We need to consider the possibility that we're dealing with something... other."
The group fell silent, pondering the implications.
"A shapeshifter?" Kael ventured.
Lira frowned. "I've never heard of one capable of such violence."
Thorne snorted. "Superstitions. We need facts, not fantasy."
But Kael's words had sparked a doubt. He is right, the girl was murder by non-human beings
As the night wore on, the discussion grew more heated. Some argued for caution, while others demanded action.
"We can't just sit back and wait for another attack," lira said, her voice rising.
Kael placed a calming hand on her arm. "We'll investigate, but we must be careful. We can't afford to antagonize the humans."
Kael's eyes narrowed. "I'll lead the inquiry. We'll get to the bottom of this."
The elders nodded, their faces set with determination. These teenager are not aware of anything even the history of Liang Wei.
They didn't know.
As they dispersed, the darkness beyond the fire seemed to press in, heavy with secrets and suspicions.
The clan's unease grew, fueled by whispers of the unknown. They were sure that the murderer wasn't a human but something eles
Only time would tell, if the history of Liang Wei reveal .
Xhan's POV
My father was sitting, did he think alot? Is he anxious on what happened lately? I'm not worries but he seems very serious right now
I stood before my father, trying to appear confident despite my racing heart. Father's eyes narrowed, scrutinizing me.
"Xhan, you're skilled with a bow. I have a task for you," he said, his voice firm.
"Yes, Father?" I replied, curiosity piqued.
"We'll hire a renowned archer to ensure the clans' safety at night. I want you to work with them, learn from them."
My eyes widened. "Who is it?" I agree to my task. I mean this is literally my job? Summoned evil?.
I don't dare to tell my father what I experience getting my powers into afterlife, even I tell him he didn't believe me anyway
"Jiang, the infamous marksman from the eastern clan."
I had heard of Jiang's unparalleled accuracy.
Jiang's POV
I arrived at the clan's headquarters, my bow and quiver slung over my shoulder. The leader, Xhan's father, greeted me with a firm handshake.
"Hi! xhan good evening!" His still cold,we even drink together last night,I think he forgot? Uhm he's embarrassed? Ugh I don't want to think about it
"Jiang, we need your expertise. Our clans have been plagued by nocturnal threats. We require your skills to ensure their safety." I was confused like, huh? Why me? I don't have special skill?. But I agreed,I think about my clans safety and I need to protect them no matter what, even I give my life to them.
I nodded, surveying the area. "I'll do my best."
Xhan approached, his eyes fixed on me with a mix of curiosity and apprehension.
"Xhan, this is Jiang. You'll work together," his father instructed.
Xhan nodded, still looking uncertain.
Xhan's POV
As night fell, Jiang and I took our positions atop the clan's walls. The darkness seemed to stretch on forever.
Jiang's eyes scanned the horizon, his gaze piercing. "Movement, 200 paces east."
I followed his gaze, spotting a faint shadow. Jiang's arrow flew, striking true.
"Hey xhan,do you know this job can kill you?he asked me? Of course I know... I literally know.
I didn't response to his questions
"xhan I'm asking you?" Did he give me puppy eyes? I can't even look to his eyes
"Stop ,looking at me like that" did he laughed? I'm so fool.
Throughout the night, we patrolled the perimeter, Jiang's accuracy and my eagerness proving a formidable team.
Jiang's POV
Xhan's enthusiasm was refreshing, but I sensed his inexperience. I took it upon myself to mentor him.
"Xhan, focus on your breathing. Steady hands, clear mind."
"Don't teach me!" I was shocked by his response, did he scolded at me?
"Hey?! Did you just scolded me?! Did you kn-" as I continue to speak he suddenly mentioned...my mother
"Did you mother teach you to be a great clan leader?, and why they hire you? Your still young.." what the freak, that was such a long words I heard to xhan
"You know I have n-" I suddenly speak again
"They didn't hire you, if they can do it" WHAT DID HE JUST SAY??
"What do you mean?" I asked
"Your skilled is pretty awful,I'm sure they didn't teach you anything else...even manners" My tears began to drop, how can he say that? Did he even know my story?
"How can you say that?" I asked while my tears are slowly dropping.
"Why isn't true? and now you're crying such baby... did your parent raise you rig-" as he began to say those words,I can't help my self but to said these things
"How do you feel raising by your own parent?
Xhan POV:
I was confused why did he bring those questions?
I asked "what do you mean?" Did I said something wrong? I think I was being to harsh to him?
"Well,I only have senior liang to take care for me..m-my parent died along ago" I'm shocked..did I just hurt someone's feeling? Xhan what do you think you're doing huh? Your so dump
"How did they died?" I asked
"Well...M-my own father killed my mother..do you think a husband could kill his own wife?"
I stared at Jiang, his expression unreadable as he gazed into the distance. I had discovered a dark secret, one that made my heart ache.
Jiang's mother was dead, killed by his own father's hand. The weight of that truth settled heavy in my chest.
I remembered Jiang's words: "My mother's passing... it's a painful memory."
He had never spoken of the details, but I sensed the depth of his sorrow.
Now, I understood why Jiang's eyes sometimes seemed to hold a world of pain.
His father's betrayal was unimaginable.
How could anyone harm the person they loved?Ib felt a surge of empathy for Jiang, my partner in the night. His stoic exterior hid a wound that would never fully heal.
I think carefully... If I asked him for help to find Liang Wei?
