Chapter 232: The Inheritance of the Five Elements Sect
Under the vast blue sky, two figures raced through the air like flashes of lightning. These two were none other than Lin Langtian and Jinwu, who had departed from the Ancient Hall and were heading toward the core region of the Ancient Battlefield.
The battlefield spanned an enormous area, and the northwest region where Lin Langtian and Jinwu had been was only a small fraction of it. Reaching the core wouldn't happen in a matter of days, so they needed to move quickly.
"On the route from the northwest region to the core of the Ancient Battlefield, there's a place called Myriad Phenomena City, one of the few essential passageways to the core. There, powerful individuals from all regions of the battlefield gather. It's necessary to pass through it to reach the core," Lin Langtian murmured as they traveled.
According to what Aunt Ling had gleaned from the memories of a man named Mu Shi, the inheritance of the Demon Elder was located to the northwest of Myriad Phenomena City, near the edge of the core region. This was Lin Langtian's ultimate destination.
Though the Ancient Battlefield contained countless inheritances, the Demon Elder's was among the most revered. However, few were aware of its existence—Mu Shi himself had only stumbled upon the information by chance. Knowing it would be a long journey, Lin Langtian wasn't in a particular rush.
As they moved, he noticed that Jinwu seemed distracted. "Jinwu, is something wrong?" Lin Langtian asked curiously.
Startled, Jinwu snapped out of his thoughts and replied, "Big Brother, my clone just detected two groups engaged in battle twenty miles to the west."
"Oh?" Lin Langtian raised an eyebrow, extending his spiritual sense to confirm Jinwu's report. He could sense a strong disturbance in the yuan energy in that direction.
Since Jinwu had achieved his human form, he couldn't revert to his beast form to scan for threats as easily. However, he had gained a new skill: the Jinwu Clone. The Jinwu Clone, though lacking Jinwu's full power, retained his superior detection abilities and speed, making it ideal for reconnaissance.
With Jinwu's current strength, he could divide into four clones to monitor each cardinal direction, which was a useful precaution in the ever-dangerous Ancient Battlefield. Only a Nirvana stage warrior above the Five-Yuan level could likely avoid the watch of a Jinwu Clone—a rarity, even on the battlefield.
Confident in Jinwu's abilities, Lin Langtian frowned slightly but said, "Let them fight it out. We don't need to get involved." Such skirmishes were common, and he had no desire to be drawn into them. They could simply avoid unnecessary trouble by taking another path.
However, Jinwu hesitated, then suggested, "Big Brother, maybe we should check it out."
Surprised, Lin Langtian asked, "Why? Did you sense something unusual?"
Jinwu scratched his head with a sheepish smile. "Big Brother, since my Jinwu Clone and I share the same five senses, I was able to get a sense of the situation. Two groups, about thirty to forty people, are clashing. One side is from the Blackwood Dynasty, an advanced dynasty from the northeast region, while the other side is from the Zhao Dynasty, a super dynasty.
"It seems that the leader of the Blackwood Dynasty obtained the Five Elements Sect's inheritance from an ancient treasure trove in the northeast. When news spread, it attracted the attention of several super dynasties, including the Zhao Dynasty. Knowing they would be hunted, the Blackwood Dynasty has been hiding, but the Zhao Dynasty finally managed to track them down here. However, the Blackwood Dynasty's leader refuses to surrender the Five Elements inheritance despite being cornered."
"The Five Elements Sect's inheritance?" Lin Langtian's eyes lit up with interest. The Five Elements Sect was one of the most formidable inheritances in the northeast region, comparable to—if not even stronger than—his own Four Divisions Sect inheritance.
Hearing about the Blackwood Dynasty's predicament, Lin Langtian shook his head slightly. In the Ancient Battlefield, strength ruled supreme. Without sufficient power, even the greatest treasures were impossible to keep. Only a few days prior, had he not had the strength to protect himself, his own Vermillion Bird inheritance would likely have been seized by the Daqian Dynasty.
"Well, if that's the case, let's go take a look," Lin Langtian said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. He glanced westward before looking back at Jinwu with a smile. The Five Elements Sect's inheritance was a rare opportunity; perhaps coming across it was fate. Even though his Vermillion Bird inheritance already made him a target, another powerful legacy would only further enhance his strength.
With a nod, Lin Langtian took off westward, Jinwu following closely behind.
As they traveled, the sky darkened, and night began to spread across the land. The darkened landscape created an atmosphere that made the yuan energy within the heavens and earth seem wild and unstable.
In the heart of a mountain range, powerful bursts of yuan energy clashed repeatedly, shredding trees and even splitting the ground. Not a single beast dared to draw near, and it was clear a fierce battle was underway.
Two concealed figures arrived nearby, watching the clash quietly. They were, of course, Lin Langtian and Jinwu, who had come to investigate.
"The Blackwood and Zhao Dynasties… it's as intense as expected," Lin Langtian murmured, taking in the sight of trees reduced to splinters across the mountainside. He twisted his body just in time to dodge a stray blast that could have injured an ordinary Nirvana practitioner, then refocused on the fierce battle unfolding below.
