Chapter 245: Inheriting the Legacy

Chapter 245: Inheriting the Legacy

"Demonic Spirit Elder!"

As Lin Langtian looked at the elderly, hunched figure before him, he was certain of the man's identity without needing an introduction. This ancient figure, radiating both righteous and sinister energy and residing within the space of the ancient hall, could only be the famous Demonic Spirit Elder from ancient times.

"So, after all these years, someone has finally arrived here," the old man said, his deep, abyss-like eyes fixing on Lin Langtian. His voice, a blend of kindness and cruelty, was as difficult to decipher as the emotions behind it.

"Junior Lin Langtian greets the revered Demonic Spirit Elder," Lin Langtian said, cupping his fists in a respectful bow. He was unsure of the elder's temperament but knew better than to be anything less than courteous with such an ancient, formidable figure, even if the elder's form was now only a shadow of his true self. His mission was to acquire this man's inheritance, and a humble approach would certainly do no harm.

"Enough of the formalities," the elder interrupted bluntly. "You came here risking death, all to obtain my inheritance. So there's no need to bother with all these pointless courtesies."

Lin Langtian hesitated, slightly taken aback by the elder's straightforwardness. This Demonic Spirit Elder's personality was as intense and strange as the powers he wielded.

While Lin Langtian processed this, the elder's eyes began examining him, as if seeing through to the very core of his being. Lin Langtian felt a shiver of exposure, as if his entire self were laid bare. But then, the elder's eyes flashed with surprise, mirroring the reaction Lin Langtian had seen from the ancient Zhuque Tian.

"You carry quite a few secrets, boy. No wonder you made it here." The elder's gaze lingered, intrigued. Yet, before Lin Langtian could respond, he continued indifferently, "Your secrets don't interest me. The fact you've arrived here proves we share some connection. My martial skill, Demonic Mirror Art, I can impart to you."

"The Demonic Mirror Art?" Lin Langtian repeated, frowning slightly. He remembered this martial skill from his prior knowledge—it was a powerful dark art created by the Demonic Spirit Elder, based on his study of demonic forces. But Lin Langtian wasn't here for mere martial techniques. His goal was to gain direct access to the otherworldly power of the foreign Demonic Tribe, something that would far surpass the Demonic Mirror Art.

Realizing this, he drew a deep breath, deciding there was no need to hold back with the elder's direct nature.

"To be honest, Elder, my purpose in coming here was to inherit your true legacy, not just the Demonic Mirror Art," Lin Langtian stated boldly.

A brief silence filled the air, then a low crackling echoed through the space. The Demonic Spirit Elder's expression shifted, and a subtle smirk crossed his face as a dark mist slowly enveloped his gaze.

"Oh? So, you know a little of the past, do you?" he said, his eyes piercing through Lin Langtian.

Lin Langtian met his gaze directly. "I know a bit about the events of that ancient era," he replied. "The stories of your prowess still echo to this day, which is why I've come seeking more than just martial arts."

"To think that someone still remembers the devastating war of the ancient age…" the elder murmured, his gaze flickering as if lost in the past. But he did not linger, returning his attention to Lin Langtian with a faint smile. "You aspire to obtain my true legacy. Your ambition is bold, but I hope you have the strength to match."

Lin Langtian met the elder's piercing stare and gave a slow, resolute nod, raising his fists in another respectful bow. Seeing this, the elder smirked and reached out a thin, weathered hand, a swirl of black energy curling around his fingers.

"Very well," the elder said, his voice low. "My true legacy lies within this." With a flick of his wrist, the black energy coalesced in the air, forming a dark demonic figure. Its face was monstrous, its fangs long and jagged, radiating a terrifying aura that sent chills through even Lin Langtian.

"If you truly desire my inheritance, it is hidden within this demon. Only if you prove yourself will it be yours."

With a wave of his sleeve, the elder sent the demon roaring toward Lin Langtian, a storm of dark energy swirling from its mouth, tearing through the air with a vicious force.

The intense, destructive power of the demon's energy made Lin Langtian's face turn grave. He could feel that even a single blow from this demon could end his life in an instant. But he understood that if he were to inherit the elder's legacy, he'd first have to survive this deadly trial.

Taking a deep breath, Lin Langtian's body surged with a black-and-gold energy, which erupted from his core, driving back the dark waves surrounding the demon.

"This power…" The elder looked at Lin Langtian in surprise. The black-gold energy emitting from him was reminiscent of demonic energy, but it felt even more potent and mysterious, unlike anything the elder had seen before.

The clash of the black-gold energy and the dark demon was explosive. The resulting force shook the entire hall, with fierce ripples of power radiating from the epicenter.

With a final shattering sound, the demon's energy fragmented, breaking into pieces under the relentless pressure of Lin Langtian's black-gold force. The attack from the elder had been utterly broken.

As the dark aura around him receded, a faint glint shot out from within the broken energy, penetrating Lin Langtian's body. Yet he felt no pain—instead, an immense surge of knowledge began flooding into his mind.

With his arms raised, Lin Langtian embraced the torrent of information as it flowed into his consciousness. Gradually, the teachings condensed into two ancient characters, each exuding a strange and sinister aura.

They read: Demonic Seed.

These two ancient words pulsed with dark energy, and Lin Langtian could feel an oppressive, demonic force emanating from them.

This was the true legacy of the Demonic Spirit Elder.
