One evening, as he lay on his bed in Jing Wei's house, staring at the ceiling, his phone buzzed beside him. Startled, he reached for it, hoping for a message from Liang Chen, but instead, it was an unknown number. Frowning, he opened it, and his heart skipped a beat when he recognized the sender.
"Huo Yi, can we meet? I need to talk."
It was Liang Chen.
A surge of conflicting emotions washed over Huo Yi. He felt a rush of hope mixed with trepidation. What could Liang Chen want now? After everything, did he truly want to see him? Was there a chance to mend what had been broken?
He sat up, staring at the message, feeling the weight of his heart in his chest. He took a deep breath, weighing his options. Should he meet Liang Chen again? Or would it only bring back the pain of their last encounter?
Just then, Jing Wei knocked on his door, stepping inside without waiting for a response. "Huo Yi! Are you ready for the study group?" She paused, noticing the conflicted look on his face. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," he replied, hiding the message behind his back.
But Jing Wei could sense the turmoil within him. "You look like you've seen a ghost. Seriously, are you okay?"
Huo Yi forced a smile, trying to shake off the tension. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just… a lot on my mind."
"Let it out, you know I'm here for you," she said, her tone almost too sweet, her eyes glinting with something he couldn't quite place.
Huo Yi hesitated, then glanced back at his phone. The message loomed there like a beacon of hope and despair. "I just got a message from Liang Chen," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
Her expression shifted, excitement bubbling beneath the surface. "What did he say?"
"Just that he wants to meet."
"Meet? That's great! You should go!" Her enthusiasm felt forced, and Huo Yi caught a hint of something sinister behind her words but ignored it.
"I don't know," he murmured, his mind racing. "What if it's just to hurt me again?"
Jing Wei leaned closer, her eyes sparkling. "Or it could be an opportunity! What if he wants to apologize or explain himself? You deserve answers, Huo Yi." Jing Wei, she was so stupid but she felt hope, maybe Liang Chen was about to break his heart completely and make him give up.
As much as Huo Yi wanted to believe that, a part of him was still hesitant, held back by the fear of reopening old wounds. But deep down, he knew he couldn't ignore the longing in his heart—the chance, however slim, to reconnect with the man who had consumed his thoughts.
With a shaky breath, he typed a response to Liang Chen, agreeing to meet.
"Okay. When and where?"
As he hit send, he felt a strange mixture of dread and excitement. He could only hope this meeting would lead to clarity—or at the very least, some semblance of peace.
Jing Wei watched him closely, an inscrutable expression on her face. But beneath her facade, a secret satisfaction simmered. She smiled, knowing she had her own plans to ensure Huo Yi remained in her orbit, even if it meant manipulating the situation to her advantage.
Little did they both know that this meeting would change everything.
Its was time to meet, so Huo Yi dressed up and left.
The café was quiet, a serene refuge from the bustling world outside. Huo Yi arrived early, his heart racing with anticipation and anxiety. He found a small table in the corner, trying to steady his nerves as he waited for Liang Chen. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingled with the soft chatter of patrons, but Huo Yi couldn't focus on anything other than the storm brewing inside him.
When Liang Chen finally walked in, Huo Yi's breath caught in his throat. The familiar figure, dressed casually yet effortlessly handsome, sent a jolt of longing through him. He felt a mix of excitement and dread as Liang Chen approached, his expression unreadable.
"Hey," Liang Chen greeted, sliding into the seat across from Huo Yi. His voice was steady, but there was a tension in the air that neither could ignore.
"Thanks for meeting me," Huo Yi said, trying to keep his tone light. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest, and he wondered if Liang Chen could hear it.
Liang Chen nodded, his gaze piercing. "I've been thinking about what you said before. About being my… substitute."
Huo Yi's heart raced at the acknowledgement. "You're willing to do that?"
"Yeah," Liang Chen replied, his voice low. "But you need to understand that this is purely physical. I don't want a relationship, and I can't give you love."
The words stung, but Huo Yi was prepared for the truth. He had expected this. "I understand. I don't need love. I just want…" His voice faltered for a moment, the weight of his desire pressing heavily on him. "I just want you."
Liang Chen's expression softened for a moment before hardening again. "I'll be honest. I've thought about that night too. I remember it clearly now," he said, his voice laced with a raw intensity. " and sorry I hurt you, I remember using Force Which injured you, hope you are okay now?" He asked.
" Stop it please, Stop asking." Huo Yi said embarrassingly. His cheek was tinted in red.
"Why are you shy? I don't see you shy when you talk about this, haha!" Liang Chen laughed.
So back to what we talked about, I want you to be aware of that, " it was just… lust. Nothing more."
Huo Yi nodded, feeling the thrill of Liang Chen's admission wash over him. It was bittersweet, but it ignited a flame of hope within him. "Lust is enough," he replied, his voice barely above a whisper. Yes, it was enough! But its was just for now, as he knew he would win his heart.
