Chapter 78: New Beginnings

The morning sun peeked through the curtains of Aditi and Rohit's shared bedroom, casting a warm glow over the room. It was a beautiful Sunday morning, and Aditi felt a flutter of excitement and nervousness in her belly. Today marked the beginning of a new chapter in their lives—one filled with love, anticipation, and a little chaos as they prepared for the arrival of their baby.

"Good morning, Mama," Rohit said playfully, wrapping his arms around Aditi from behind as she stood by the window, sipping her morning tea.

She turned her head slightly, smiling at the affectionate nickname. "Good morning, Papa."

Rohit chuckled, planting a soft kiss on her cheek. "Are you ready for our first baby shopping adventure?"

Aditi grinned, her excitement bubbling over. "Absolutely! I've been looking forward to this all week."

After a quick breakfast, they headed out to the local baby store, hand in hand, hearts light with anticipation. The shop was vibrant, filled with everything from cribs and strollers to adorable baby clothes. As they stepped inside, Aditi was immediately enveloped by the sweet scents of baby lotion and powder, and the cheerful decor made her smile.

"Where do we even start?" Aditi mused, her eyes wide with wonder.

Rohit laughed, pulling out his phone. "I made a checklist. Let's try to stick to it, shall we?"

"You're so organized!" Aditi teased, impressed by his initiative.

They wandered through the aisles, picking out essentials like diapers, onesies, and toys. Each item they chose felt like a step closer to welcoming their baby, and they couldn't help but share laughter and lighthearted banter along the way.

"What about this one?" Aditi held up a tiny blue onesie with the words "Coolest Kid on the Block" printed on it.

Rohit raised an eyebrow playfully. "Are you sure it's not too early to be predicting our child's future coolness?"

Aditi laughed, tossing the onesie into their cart. "It's never too early! Our baby is going to be amazing!"

As they continued shopping, they couldn't help but notice the other expectant parents, each radiating their own unique joy. Aditi spotted a couple discussing cribs nearby, and it reminded her of how their lives had changed in such a short time.

"Can you believe how far we've come?" Aditi asked, glancing at Rohit. "From childhood friends to expecting parents. It feels surreal."

Rohit nodded, his expression serious for a moment. "I always knew there was something special about you, Aditi. But this... this is beyond what I ever imagined."

Feeling a rush of affection, Aditi stepped closer, wrapping her arms around his waist. "I'm so grateful for you, Rohit. You make this journey so much easier."

Rohit smiled down at her, the love in his eyes evident. "And I'll always be here, no matter what."

After hours of shopping, their cart was full, and they were exhausted but exhilarated. They decided to stop for a quick lunch at a nearby café, where they discussed their plans for the nursery and what they hoped for their baby.

"What if we have a girl?" Aditi asked, biting into her sandwich. "I can already picture her playing dress up with all the cute clothes."

"And if it's a boy?" Rohit replied, smiling. "He'll be the one giving us trouble!"

They both laughed, their banter light and filled with love. As they enjoyed their meal, Aditi couldn't shake the feeling of excitement mixed with a hint of anxiety.

"Do you ever worry about being parents?" she asked, her tone turning serious.

Rohit took a moment to consider her question. "Of course. I think every parent does. But I believe we'll figure it out together. We have each other, and we have our families to support us."

His words soothed Aditi, and she nodded, feeling more at ease. "You're right. We'll learn as we go."

After lunch, they headed home, their car packed with baby essentials and their hearts full of hope. As they unloaded their purchases, Aditi felt a sense of accomplishment wash over her. They were truly preparing for the arrival of their little one.

That evening, as they began organizing the nursery, Aditi felt an overwhelming wave of emotions. The walls were painted a soft yellow, and the crib they had chosen stood proudly in the corner, waiting for its occupant.

"We did it," Aditi whispered, her eyes glistening with tears. "We're really doing this."

Rohit placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Yes, we are. And I couldn't imagine anyone else by my side."

They spent the evening assembling furniture, sharing laughter and occasional arguments over how to arrange things. With each piece they put together, their dream of becoming parents felt more tangible.

As night fell, they collapsed onto the couch, exhausted but happy. Rohit turned to Aditi, his expression softening. "You know, I can't wait to see you as a mom. You'll be amazing."

Aditi felt her heart swell with affection. "And you'll be an incredible dad, Rohit. Our baby is lucky to have you."

They exchanged tender smiles, feeling the warmth of their love wrap around them like a cozy blanket. As they sat together, Aditi rested her head on Rohit's shoulder, content in the knowledge that they were embarking on this beautiful journey hand in hand.
