The arrival of the two moons saw Elara, Caspian, and Kyran seated around the hearth together. Elara sat in one of the high-backed chairs, her legs pulled underneath her. Caspian sat in the chair beside her, and seeing him for the first time all day was an unspeakable comfort in all the chaos. Kyran was seated in a third high-backed chair a maid had brought for him since the room usually only had two.
"I suppose I'll go first," Chancellor Kyran said, leaning forward. "I went to see Lady Olivia's knight, and he admitted to being paid a large sum to kill Miss. Elara. Enough money to live better than most nobles do. I pulled different family ledgers from the records office since all large household expenses are expected to be recorded there to ensure no treachery against the Crown and it all seemed to point to House Arlindor."
Caspian's eyebrows shot to his hairline. "I..." His eyebrows came together, and he shook his head. "I don't believe they would do that."
