"Mom! Mom!" Stark cried out in fear, sinking to his knees and weeping.

"She's gone... She's gone," Stark's voice trembled with fear as he shivered, still shaken by the horrific scene he had just witnessed.

Stark was torn between the urge to run and the inclination to stay. After all, his mother was now dead, leaving him with a profound sense of emptiness and no reason to go on.

The monstrous lizard charged towards him, poised to devour him just as it had done to his mother. "There's nothing left worth living for," he muttered, showing no concern for the enormous creature that had recently taken his mother's life.

Stark knew that there was nothing he could do as he shielded his eyes with his hands while the lightning-fast lizard closed in. No matter how fast he ran, he knew he would eventually be caught.

And then, unexpectedly a bright flash of light surrounded him, and within an instant, he found himself transported to a totally different place.

Stark stood in an unfamiliar environment, where the surroundings were like a barren land.

"What happened? Where am I?" Stark was astonished by the sudden turn of events.

However, instead of feeling joyful or relieved that he didn't die instead he was furious. After all, he felt he had nothing left to live for.

He gazed at the new environment before him, noticing towering and decaying structures that seemed to pierce the sky.

But it was surprising that all this looked as if he was in a single cave-like environment.

As Stark looked around, he noticed a large number of people began to appear immediately too, who had also been brought to this place. People of different ages, all with bewildered expressions, unsure of how they ended up in this strange and unfamiliar location.

Normally, Stark wasn't comfortable being surrounded by many people. So, he immediately found a corner and sat down, trying to make sense of everything that had happened, especially the tragic loss of his mother.

As Stark told his story, tears started falling from his eyes.

"I couldn't save her... I'm so useless. She died right in front of me." Stark couldn't hold back his emotions and hung his head in sadness.

He never thought something like this would happen to him. The memory of his mother's death kept playing over and over in his mind, tormenting him nonstop.

Just then, he felt a soft touch on his shoulder and looked up to see a young girl with blue hair. Through her small stature she looked like an eight year old, and he was surprised to see her standing there, especially since he was feeling so vulnerable.

With a kind smile, she introduced herself, "Hi! I'm Bella..."

Stark stared at Bella, unable to find the right words to respond. He felt shameful that it was awkward to cry in front of a girl,

"I'm sorry for interrupting your thoughts, but I know this must be incredibly tough for you," Bella said, as she empathized with him.

"Blaming yourself won't change what happened. I lost my brother too, right in front of me." She said as a little drop of tears came out of her eyes as she wiped them off

"We have to find a way to survive. Crying won't change anything, and it might even put us in danger," she gently advised, moving closer to Stark as she extended her hands to raise him up.

Stark felt uncomfortable as he had never been this close to a girl or sought advice from one. However, her comforting words actually made him feel a bit hopeful. He wiped away his tears, and held her hands as he stood up,

"My.... nam..e is.. Stark" he finally let out, after all this was the first time he was talking to a girl.

Suddenly, a loud voice captured everyone's attention

"Greetings, people of the ruin. I am the one overseeing this experiment, initiated by a more advanced civilization to determine the fate of your world."

"The energy that brought you here has not only transported you, but also granted you special abilities," the voice continued. "You have been chosen to use your powers to face the beasts in this Ruin."

"I can't fight those beasts... I've never faced anything like this before," murmurs spread through the crowd as the daunting reality sank in. Many couldn't comprehend the idea of fighting, let alone battling the terrifying creatures they had seen.

"If you can survive the waves of beasts and conquer this ruin, you will have the chance to return to your world and share your newfound strength with your fellow humans," the voice declared. "But if you fail, you will die."

A chill ran down Stark's spine. "Why us? Why do we have to fight?" Various people in the crowd expressed their confusion and disbelief, struggling to come to terms with this overwhelming information.

Suddenly, a loud crash

*Boom!* Sounded

And Stark watched in horror as a massive, terrifying creature emerged from one of the portals. It looked like a giant gecko and had rows of sharp teeth.

*Ssssssssh!*

The creature made a hissing sound.

Without warning, the gecko attacked, grabbing a nearby participant in its jaws.

The person screamed in agony as the creature tossed them aside, their lifeless body falling to the ground. Stark's heart raced with fear, his hands shaking. Other people ran in different directions, trying to escape the creatures.

"Bella, we need to find a way out of here," Stark said as he grabbed Bella's hands. "There has to be a place we can hide, somewhere the beasts can't reach us."

They both ran out of the environment as fast as they could.

Stark looked around, trying to find a safer place to hide. He spotted a dark and rocky opening in the side of an old, broken building - a natural cave. "Come on, Bella," Stark said, with a low tone.

He held her hand tightly and led her towards the dark and shady area.

Once inside the cave, Stark quickly surveyed the space, his gaze searching for any signs of danger. The air was damp and cool, and the cave extended deeper into the rock.

"This should work," Stark whispered, his breath slightly ragged from the sprint. "We can hide in here and try to figure out a plan."

Bella nodded, her eyes moved nervously around the cave. "Do you really think we can fight those things?" she asked.

Stark paused as he also felt an atom of doubt

"I... I don't know," he admitted. "But we have to try. We can't just sit here and wait to be found."

He went further into the cave, being careful not to trip on the rocky ground. Bella followed him, her hands shaking a little.

As they went deeper into the cave, it opened up into a big room with lots of small spaces in the walls.

Stark looked around, trying to find the safest spot to hide.

"There," he said, pointing to a small hiding spot in the corner. "We can hide there and try to come up with a plan."

They hid in the small corner, leaning against the cold and wet walls. The sounds of the danger outside seemed far away, but Stark knew the monsters would find them soon.

He closed his eyes, trying to calm down and think of what to do next. He had played video games where he had to survive, but this was real life and much scarier. Bella asked,

"What are we going to do? Do you have a plan?" Stark took a deep breath and thought quickly. "First, we need to figure out what special powers we have," he said. "Maybe we can find a way to keep ourselves and ourselves safe."
