The coalition forces felt very aggrieved. So many people from their side attacked a small hidden village, only to be forced into an embarrassing situation by the enemy's prepared measures, without even seeing the true leader.
Kirigakure had not joined forces with other villages, so it naturally lacked sufficient medical-nin. Accepting so many poisoned individuals at once created immense pressure.
"It seems the Akatsuki has made sufficient preparations for this attack. You may not be able to act as you wish."
Yagami activated his Mangekyō, channelling the power of Yang through himself and Terumi Mei, expelling all negative conditions.
"There is nothing we can do about it. If Mist Shinobi had been tortured like this, then Akatsuki would have been far from weak. Besides... I can't shake the feeling that Rain Shinobi Village is terrifying right now."
Terumi Mei frowned, observing the somewhat panicked coalition forces. She couldn't ignore how strange everything felt along the way.
"Damn it! The Akatsuki hasn't even shown up yet, and we've already suffered such a huge loss. I'll make them pay sooner or later!"
The Fourth Raikage growled angrily. He had anticipated counterattacks from Akatsuki but never imagined the use of poison, amplified by Rain Shinobi Village's unique environment.
Ōnoki's face darkened as well. For the five major shinobi villages to join forces against a small village, only to be humiliated, was an undeniable slap in the face.
Before anyone could say more, explosions suddenly erupted from within Rain Shinobi Village, followed by a chain of detonations.
"Terumi Mei, retreat immediately!"
Yagami quickly warned. Even if Konan didn't have the 600 billion detonating tags at her disposal, there would still be plenty. Her Paper Release was essentially a detonating tag production technique.
What's more, Kakuzu's long-standing membership in Akatsuki likely meant substantial savings, which could easily have been converted into detonating tags.
"Is Akatsuki launching their counterattack? It's just detonating tags—hardly an issue! You Uchiha..."
Ōnoki's sceptical tone betrayed his disbelief at Yagami's urgent reaction. After all, during the Uchiha's support for Kumogakure in the past, detonating tags had been used freely in battle. Compared to the Uchiha's actions, these explosions seemed insignificant.
But before Ōnoki could finish complaining, the next scene left him stunned. He had thought the earlier series of explosions were temporary, but instead, they only grew more intense.
The entire Rain Shinobi Village appeared to be a warehouse for detonating tags. The initial explosions triggered a chain reaction, and the blasts spread across the village.
The destruction ravaged Rain Shinobi Village's steel towers, causing massive collapses. Many coalition shinobi, unable to react in time, were crushed beneath the debris.
"Lord Raikage! The perception team just reported that Rain Shinobi Village is almost entirely filled with detonating tags!"
A Kumogakure shinobi hurriedly delivered the grim report. Upon hearing this, the faces of the Kage, including Terumi Mei, darkened considerably.
No wonder Akatsuki had not resisted earlier. Their plan had been to annihilate the coalition forces in one fell swoop.
As expected of an organization composed of S-rank rogue shinobi, their ruthlessness knew no bounds—they even sacrificed Rain Shinobi Village itself.
Yagami activated the power of his Byakugan and quickly uncovered a detonating tag hidden beneath his feet.
Konan, being a master of Paper Release, had a unique advantage in burying detonating tags. Without the Byakugan, Yagami would not have detected them at all.
Rain Shinobi Village continued to erupt in explosions. The closer one got to the village centre, the more frequent and devastating the explosions became. Coalition forces in the area suffered catastrophic losses, with the entire centre of the village transformed into a nightmarish wasteland.
Some of the more powerful shinobi immediately began rescue efforts, with Ōnoki and the Fourth Raikage joining in. However, detonating tags were extremely potent tools, and under such sustained chain explosions, few could act without being affected.
Though the three Kage present were formidable in combat, they struggled with rescue operations. The Raikage's speed allowed him to save a few, but Ōnoki's Dust Release was not suited for rescuing people. Meanwhile, Terumi Mei's two Kekkei Genkai—Lava Release and Boil Release—were powerful in battle but offered little utility in saving lives under such circumstances.
Yagami's massive Susanoo shielded a considerable number of people in its immediate vicinity, but it was limited to a small area and could not assist others further away.
After all, not everyone was like Tsunade, who could heal on a scale large enough to cover all of Konoha or summon Katsuyu to shield large groups from harm.
"Damn it! That's... Uchiha Yagami's Susanoo! Didn't he claim he wouldn't participate?"
Obito, observing from atop a high tower, froze when he saw the azure Susanoo crackling with lightning. He slipped from the pillar he was leaning on, his breathing growing heavier.
[Ding! Congratulations to Host for obtaining negative feedback from Uchiha Obito: 8,467 feedback points earned!]
The system's rare announcement echoed in Mingfeng's mind, momentarily slowing his movement with the Susanoo.
Over 8,000 feedback points! Was this a critical hit?
It was the first time Yagami had encountered feedback of such magnitude. Although Uchiha clan members frequently generated feedback, the amounts were usually much smaller. The sheer accumulation of Uchiha feedback had once irritated Yagami so much that he muted the notifications. But this time, Obito shattered the previous upper limit of 813 points.
This revelation also confirmed Obito was watching from the shadows—possibly alongside other Akatsuki members.
As the explosions finally subsided, Rain Shinobi Village was left in ruins. The coalition forces had suffered massive losses.
Though not everyone from the five great villages perished, more than half of those who entered Rain Shinobi Village were killed. Konoha and Sunagakure bore the brunt of the casualties. The Raikage and Tsuchikage, while unlikely to openly target their allies, showed little concern for helping others during the chaos.
Kirigakure suffered the least losses, as most of their forces were still en route. Those who had entered the village were concentrated around Mingfeng, protected by his Susanoo. Though Kirigakure lost a few, their losses paled compared to the other villages.
"This... how is this possible!"
The few survivors stared at the devastated Rain Shinobi Village in disbelief, struggling to accept the grim reality.
Who could have imagined that a once-intact village would be reduced to rubble in mere minutes, burying not only its history but also its fallen comrades?
