President White, Dr. Frost, and Nixon stepped off the podium once everything was said and done, and the crowd quickly dispersed, eager to face the final trial.
Max, James, and Alice joined the crowd heading towards the training room with determination occupying their minds. Max who was readying himself to train past and go beyond his limitations, felt a sudden chill down his spine, somebody was watching him.
Max glanced back with concern when his gaze met President White's. Before he could look away, President White smiled at him. Max quickly returned the smile before hurrying to the training room.
''You said your divinity has a keen interest in him'' president white asked Dr. Frost who stood beside him expressionless.
'' Yes,'' Dr. Frost slowly answered with a glimmer in his eyes.
President White appeared extremely focused after Dr. Frost answered his question, and not before long a smile crept onto his face '' I know why... his divinity is a beast''.
Quickly after training their body, souls, and minds to the extreme breaking point, Max and his two friends went home with extreme aches, to spend one more peaceful time with their loved ones before their reality was turned upside down.
24th January 2025, Max woke with his body in battle mode. The night before, he slept in a relaxing and peaceful state of mind knowing from many past experiences that lack of sleep over worry will only hamper the efficiency of the body's output.
Embracing his mom one last time before they set off, Max made sure failure wasn't an option, his eyes burned with the prospect of absolute victory.
The next moment, after only a few minutes Max with his mom, arrived at the designated building for safeguarding the Marked ones in his area.
The building was a newly established hospital able to hold up to a thousand patients at a time however due to the untimely intervention of the chaos brought forth by the all-powerful divinities, it was never opened to the public.
The hospital had undergone an intense transformation to ensure the complete safety of the Marked ones without leaving room for error.
The hospital was completely barricaded with large, sharp metal spikes surrounding its square structure. Thick, interlocking blocks covered every inch of the hospital's surface, preventing any light from the outside from entering.
The fragile glass door of the hospital was replaced by a sturdy, thick metallic door, which provided many a sense of protection, reducing the fears they held in their hearts. However, the wall surrounding the hospital was left in its original state; there was only limited time, and the walls were deprioritized.
The blessed hugged, kissed, or smiled at their loved ones before guarding them into the building with a heavy heart. The thick metallic door automatically shut once all the Marked ones were present on the inside.
Max let out a profound sigh, clenching his fist and putting on a stern expression in preparation for what was to come next.
He was soon joined by James and Alice, each emitting a strong desire to succeed no matter the cost.
Before arriving at their final destination, all the blessed were placed in groups of three with numbers assigned to them. The higher the assigned number, the lower your level, so groups with higher numbers were placed at the safer point of the building to guard, which was the back.
Max, James, and Alice were about to assume their position at the back of the building, away from the front side when.
''94-222-334!!''
The three stopped in place as they heard their group number mentioned urgently.
'' You three…. are to remain… at the front side,'' the tall man in thick black sunglasses and suit announced while catching his breath in the process. It was as though he ran a mile to deliver the message.
The three with a look of doubt, surprise, and worry exchanged glances of great disbelief.
" Sorry, sir…. But we are low levels." Alice was quick to speak, finding their current predicament absurd. The tall man in black received the information with an even more shocked expression, momentarily stunning the three with no words to speak.
''Sorry kids but it is an order from above'' The tall man in black said after regaining his composure, he was undecided on what to do next but he quickly stood on his professionalism and left.
Many questions quickly filled their minds, but no answers came. They were about to be overwhelmed by confusion when their status screen appeared before them like a flash of light.
Suddenly, the floating castle that had remained inactive since its appearance, began to glow with brilliant white light, becoming a second sun in the sky.
Splendored pillars of red lights began descending, touching the earth with a loud boom. In less than a second the red lights dissipated with all its splendor leaving behind the main antagonist of the blessed.
The blessed immediately became stressed; all the training in the world was still vastly different from the real battle, where life and death hanged in an unknown balance.
The red monsters are two-meter-tall creatures with shimmering red scales that reflect light in all directions. They have robust bodies, long sharp claws, and teeth, with vertical pupils and green sclera, giving them the appearance of red humanoid lizards.
Each red monster easily carried a silver blade dual axe the length and size of a human leg.
They began making low grunting noises before sniffing the air in all directions with their nostrils. Many quickly found their targets, moving their bodies at impressive speeds to catch their prey.
''Boom!!!, Boom!!!''.
The unfortified wall surrounding the hospital crumbled, sending fine debris into the air as the monstrous red monsters violently struck it with their bodies and axes. After a brief moment of hesitation, the blessed activated their skills in a surprising blend of seriousness and humor.
Slowly but steadily, red monsters in their thirties made their way in, axes in hand, sending many humans into a subtle panic.
''NO SOUL SHALL MEET DEATH TODAY'' A man's voice resonated from an unseen direction to the crowd, reaching the ears of all the blessed. The voice sounded courageous and authoritative, changing the gloomy, fearful, and nearly abysmal atmosphere with courage and confidence to move forward.
'' if you have a loved one in that building, I would humbly suggest you move your fucking ass and show those ugly motherfucking monsters what humans are made of''
The unknown voice rang out once more, sending a wave of the blessed charging at the red monsters without hesitation. Their pre-activated skills clashed with the brute strength and axes of the red monsters, transforming the front of the hospital into a chaotic battle scene straight out of a fantasy novel.
Max, James, and Alice stood at a distance from the main battlefield, grimacing as they watched a red monster approach them in an obvious manner. After exchanging glances and a nod of confidence, Max yelled, "Now!"
''Sit'' her skill quickly taking effect as the red monster swayed in the wind before sitting on the ground with little resistance.
Max instantly lunged forward, leaving James behind to be his backup and Alice's bodyguard. The muscle of his leg burst with power as he jumped with his stick, bringing it down on the red monster with tremendous force. The monster's head burst open as blood and bits of organs shot out like an active volcano.
''Danger, Danger'' From behind, Max was about to face the incoming red monster that was approaching with incredible speed when.
''Bang, Bang'' James shot the hand holding the axe, causing it to drop in pain and slowing its movement drastically.
'' Sit'' Alice wasted no time in using her skill.
Following that Max immediately delivered the final blow striking the head of the monster with an imperative force that blew the head into bits.
''Danger! Danger!'' from his left and right, the red monsters began moving towards him.
''Bang!, Bang!, Bang!, Bang!'' James rapidly fired at the axe-wielding red monsters approaching, injuring them on their legs. They fell to the floor bleeding out of their legs yet they quickly attempted to get up.
Max moved to the one on his right quickly smashing its head with his brute force while
''Bang'' James fired a headshot at the one on the left, it fell lifeless on the cold hard floor with a hole in its head.
The three of them training together had made their execution flawless. But although flawless they still faced a huge disadvantage, their skills were too draining on their H.P. increasing their tiredness.
Max wondered how long he could last as sweat began to trickle down his face. He wiped the sweat off before smiling devilishly '' I won't stop until I win…until every last red fucking monster is dead''
'' Danger!!, Danger!!'' Max was about to get surrounded. Red monsters charged toward him from all sides, as if he were their greatest enemy whose death would bring them joy.
