Elise and Rumi looked at each other. They had both noticed Elgar's worried state. The increasing number of guards in recent days and the tense atmosphere in the city were like harbingers of an approaching storm.
"I wonder when mom will return?" Rumi sighed to herself.
Elise approached her and put her hand on her shoulder. "I hope she'll return soon," she said with a smile. Rumi nodded and headed toward the kitchen.
Elise looked out the window and noticed the increased number of guards. "Isn't this much security a bit excessive?" she muttered. Rumi called out from the kitchen, "Grandpa was saying the same thing, it feels like something's about to happen."
"Maybe there'll be a war with one of the kingdoms," said Elise.
"Maybe the Empire has started attacking its neighbors," said Rumi.
