CHAPTER 2

"I've decided... I want to join the military..." Keira blurted out of nowhere while the family was having their breakfast.

She had thought about it overnight. If she wanted to pursue Zach, she must stay near him.

And the only way she could be near her fated dream man was by joining the military under his supervision. She saw a lot of woman nowadays who tried to join the military and passed successfully so she was confident she could succeed also.

Field Marshall Chan choked hard when he heard Keira's words and spitted out all the food inside his mouth. Mrs. Chan stood up gently pat her husband's back while she looked at her daughter directly.

"Oh my God Keira? What are you saying? Are you fully awake already or you are still sleepy somehow?" she exclaimed at Keira as shock was plastered all over her face.

Then she shifted her gaze to her husband and said, "I think Keira is still feeling sleepy or maybe she needs more rest."

Keira arched an eyebrow as she added, "Ma, am I not making myself clear? I said I want to join the military and continue my study inside Papa's camp. I thought of it well. I want to experience something new and thrilling."

"I want to train... I hate going out always with bodyguards and besides I can still study business while under military training... everything can be arranged. I already had a plan for it all." Keira said simply.

The military managed by her Papa was exceptional where whoever passed to go inside also gain the opportunity for proper schooling on various courses that could not interfere much with the military training which was the main focus of the place.

Field Marshall Chan stared at her and said, "You brat, I know what you're trying to do. I'm telling you, it won't be easy with that one. You'll have a hard time if your target is Zach. It's like targeting an invisible prey."

Then he narrowed his eyes as if scaring his daughter and said, "Plus you will be treated fairly inside like other trainees. Moreover, there will be no exceptions and special treatments at all. So, don't expect you'll be special just because you're my daughter rather I'm pretty sure Zach will show no mercy and give you a harder one..."

Keira smiled wickedly to her dad and said, "The word 'IMPOSSIBLE' is missing on my vocabulary Pa and you of all people should have known that already. In short, nothing is impossible for Keira Chan."

"Discouraging me is too lame... Aren't you tired on those techniques? Try something convincing Pa..." Keira said grinning before she continued to eat.

Mrs. Chan released a long deep sigh. Those two obviously agreed into something again without her knowing. As usual, her voice was no longer needed once the two began their discussions.

"Okay, I'll put you under his team but make sure you behave and don't do anything that would embarrass me or I will have you pull out immediately." Field Marshall Chan said in a serious tone.

Mrs. Chan could no longer keep her silence and blurted-out, "Hon, what is wrong with you? That's a men's lair and you will allow our only daughter inside? Are you out of your mind? She's only nineteen!"

Keira rolled her eyes and said, "What does my age have to do with me going to the military? They accept 17 years old, Ma, it's Papa's territory, should I remind you that? It's the safest place for me on earth."

Field Marshall Chan coughed and said, "Alright, that's enough. We're having breakfast so all of you must focus on eating and let's discuss further later. You need to pass the tests so don't celebrate any victory soon. I'm sure you'll fail the physical tests though."

Then he looked at his wife and winked. "Hon, don't worry too much. Keira will definitely fail those tests."

Obviously, her husband had agreed to Keira so she just chose to release a deep sigh and continued to eat.

Meanwhile, Keira was already formulating inside her head all possible steps and plans she would do to get the attention of General Zach instead of worrying about the tests her father mentioned.

'Just wait Gen. Zach Lim and I'm coming soon knocking to your heart...' she mused as she squealed of excitement.

Field Marshall Chan and Mrs. Chan: "...?"

________

Keira met her three close friends May, Lana and Drey, at their favorite hangout café to tell them her intention in joining the military.

"What? But that's absurd! I mean, you want to go there simply because of a man? Are you trolling us?" Lana exclaimed.

Lana looked at Keira from head to toe.

Keira looked awesome, she loved to doll herself up.

Her friend wore a fantastic frill mini dress, a v-neckline with contrasting frill, frill cap sleeves and a slim fit skirt detailed with a frilled hem. She looked graceful and sweet as ever.

That's why she found it ridiculous that Keira, who was as glamorous as a princess, was considering entering military school. It didn't suit her at all.

"Don't listen to that terror girl, Keira. You know how boring Lana is... Oh, I love it girl. I'm sure your eyes will feast on many hot men there. Wait... Should I accompany you? Maybe I should join the military too and serve my country together with that uhm abs... biceps... Ohhh, I can't wait... Let's go and train now so we can pass the darn tests!" Drey said with anticipation as he bit his lips and looked up as if he was picturing the hot soldiers gathering around him.

"Snap! Snap! Snap?" May said while she snapped her fingers on Drey's face to wake him up from his daydream.

Keira was laughing hard as she watched them.

Drey was the comedian in their group, as usual he was the most straightforward compared the two. Most people would not believe that he was gay.

He did not fit the stereotypical description of a gay man since he was well built and masculine, but as soon as he spoke that was a different story...

"Alright, enough playing around... I have to focus on the next few days on getting fit and some advance training... so ladies, no more going out or shopping with me." She said simply.

"You heard that, ladies? Keira and I will be busy with you know what... to pass that tests so don't expect me to go out with any of you..." Drey seconded.

May laughed.

"Oh my gosh, Drey, are you serious? Does the military even accept gay men? The poor soldiers don't know what's coming. You will definitely not see shirtless men, dude. Please, don't harass them; and I know you... You have absolutely hidden intention..." May continued as she tried irritating Drey more with her joking.

Drey's face crumpled and reddened with what May had said. "You..."

Keira shook her head. Those two love to argue a lot and banter with each other.

Drey's fine eyebrow arched as he glared at May, "Duh, what do you think of me? Do I look like someone with a pea sized brain to you, May? Of course, know I am not going to announce that I'm gay."

Then Drey straightened his back and said, "Hi Miss, you look like someone I know. Have we met before?" His voice was deep and sexy that would make any girl drool.

May cringed... "Stop that. You're giving me goose bumps. Look at the hairs on my skin, all basically went up!"

Keira giggled gracefully.

"See that?" Lana blurted out.

"Even how you giggle won't fit in that place. It's like putting a doll in a war zone." Lana said as she shook her head.

"You're so pessimistic... Why don't you join us if you are worried so much about Keira? Join the military also it will be fun... You too, May..." Drey said excitedly.

Lana and May looked at each other...

"What? Come on... It will be fun... We can do extra studying like Keira! I'm sure your lives would be boring without the two of us. Imagine a serious promising old maid and a half-wit left behind. Gosh, I can't imagine how boring you two will be together when going out." Drey continued in jest.

"Who's half-witted? I'm dimwitted not half you frustrated child!" Lana exclaimed.

Keira laughed hard. She just loved her three friends so much like a real sister's well and a brother but Drey preferred to be a sister so it's sisters then.

The four of them grew up together since their families were close to each other. They attended the same school too since childhood.

"Drey stop it... Don't force Lana and May. Let them decide what they want." She scolded Drey but then paused as her mischievous smile started to curve into her full red lips.

"But I guess Drey is right... I just can't imagine how boring life would be without a comedian and a prima donna. Hmmm, I won't be able to treat you guys like before and shop past the normal the limit. I guess it will be only Drey and I. I'm not sure if the two of us would enjoy our time together..." she said.

May looked at Keira and said, "Who said I will not join you guys. Of course, I'm in... Besides, I don't know what I want to pursue yet as a career so I'll stay and train with you guys while I think of what to do."

Then Keira looked at Lana with her puppy eyes...

Lana sighed and said, "Alright, I will come too, but it's because I'm worried about you. These two are timid when it comes to important things..."

Keira understood well. Lana was best suited to become an attorney, since she always protects the three of them.

Keira hugged Lana and said, "They have political science inside the camp so you can study that too."

She was so excited to start the training. "Hah, papa said I will fail the test. I will ace that darn test and show him that Keira Chan does not fail at anything!" she uttered confidently before she ate the cheese cake on her plate.

Lana, Drey and May exchanged meaningful glances. It will be a long and hard training for them too for sure...
