CHAPTER 14

Keira bit her lip when the bouncer started handcuffing her with Zach.

"The key will be given to the bidder who won, so she will decide when it's time to let you go. Enjoy, bro!" The bouncer said teasingly as he winked at Zach and handed the key over to Keira.

"Thanks…" Keira said to the bouncer then she turned her head to Zach and gave him a sweet smile.

"Hi, we met again. I'm Keira Chan," she said casually as she offered her right hand for a handshake.

'Wow, I'm so good at this.' She mused proudly when she was able to maintain her calmness.

She might have looked casual outside but she was already screaming inside. She was too excited and nervous at the same time that her knees felt weak the moment Zach was near her. Butterflies were rumbling all over her stomach. Not to mention the electricity she felt when Zach's hand accidentally brushed on her when the bouncer cuffed them.

Zach, on the other hand, was taken aback by Keira's cheerfulness. He couldn't help but smile back at the young lady.

He looked at her small hand and accepted her handshake offer.

"Yes, I know who you are. Yes, we met again, Miss Chan. I'm Zacharias Lim." He answered.

"Does your dad know you are out this late? Aren't you still young to be in a place like this?" He asked to make a conversation as he felt awkward for an unknown reason. Or perhaps it was because Keira was just a year or two older than his little sister Rizie thus his protectiveness suddenly burst out.

Because of Zach's words, Keira pouted her lips and abruptly sat on the sofa in the private room. Zach was pulled to sit along with her since he was handcuffed to her.

"Of course my dad knows where I am. He's your superior… Don't you know how he is? Do you think I can go out without him knowing? Besides, for your knowledge, I'm already nineteen." Keira answered, a little bit irritated because she felt like Zach was treating her like a kid by asking that question and she hated that feeling.

'Can't he see that I'm a full-grown woman? Is he blind or something?' She protested inwardly before she grabbed a beer and drank it straight.

Zach looked at her in a daze… Even the way she drank was… Zach abruptly shook his head to brush off unnecessary thoughts.

"Your bid is a bit high, I think... but I want to thank you because I'm sure it will help a lot of people in need, especially those patients who can't afford the hospitalization, medicines, and laboratories." Zach murmured to change the ambiance.

Keira looked at Zach who was staring at one spot. "I'm sorry," she murmured because she knew Zach's dad died at an early stage of cancer because they were not capable at that time to support the medication fees and everything, besides, Zach was too young at that time.

With a confused face, Zach looked at her and asked, "Huh? Sorry for what?"

Keira bit her lip once more. She almost forgot that she was not supposed to make it obvious that she knew everything about him.

"Uhm, you sounded lonely when you talked about cancer patients, so I thought it's a big deal for you…" Keira said but then she paused.

Zach heard her sigh then suddenly she was back on being cheerful as she poured him a drink.

"Yeah, I bid high to help the patients…" said Keira and coughed a bit because she felt bad for lying like that but she couldn't and wouldn't dare to tell Zach that she bid high to get him for the whole night.

She cursed herself as she suddenly felt bad so she drank another glass. She poured another and would have drunk once more, but Zack snatched it from her hand as he drank it straight.

"What do you want to do for the night? I should comply with you at least to compensate and have a fair share for the money you have spent..." Zach murmured in his husky voice, which made Keira gulp as her heartbeat accelerated.

...…..

The woman in the hoodie stood not far away from the private room where Keira and Zach were.

"Madam, we have to go back. It's already late. You can't be out for too long or Master will find out." Her assistant whispered.

She glared at the room where Zach and the woman who won the bid entered.

Then, she smirked and let out a wry smile.

"And here I thought that he would never get over me no matter what happens." She murmured with a gloomy face.

She could feel that something was off with that lady to bid that high for a single night with Zach.

"It wasn't purely because of those cancer patients I'm sure," she muttered as irritation ate her. She wouldn't dare to bid pass 100,000 dollars because Master could find out about it.

Then, she turned her head to look at her assistant and hissed, "She was loaded for a young lady! Find everything about her, I want to know every single detail about her!"

For the first time in her life, she felt threatened and the confidence she was harboring for the past few years slightly crumpled at the sight of that lady.

* * * * * * * * * * *

Keira watched Zach with awe as the latter kept on snatching the drink from her hand every time she poured one for herself.

'Such a gentleman. I really want this man!' She mused, her eyes sparkling with adoration for the man sitting close to her. She also loved his manly scent. She felt like it was intoxicating her at that moment.

'Shall I confess to him tonight or delay until I get admitted to the Academy?' She thought inwardly.

People say that a teenager's brain is kinda messed up by hormones and by the fact that they were still growing.

However, her character was precise. She was not interested in waiting around for something to happen, she was willing to risk to feel or look foolish and settle the matter right away, one way or another at the earliest opportunity she could have.

During the bidding, her mind had already finalized a plan which was actually to get drunk and confess to Zach that she liked him. Being drunk could give her a lot of scenarios and benefits in the aftermath.

She thought that there were two possibilities if she happened to confess this early, it's either progress in a relationship or getting rejected.

The question was if she was ready for any of those two possibilities to happen… No matter what, she was Keira Chan who never accepted defeat that easily.

"Hmm… are you planning to get drunk on me?" Keira murmured with a seductive smile, which left Zach in awe.

She was not drunk yet but she could act like one...

Zach quickly drank the beer he had snatched from Keira, in one go. 'It's really weird…' he mused as he kept an emotionless expression on his face. That weird feeling was the same as before, but as usual, he quickly brushed it off.

"You keep pouring for yourself. It's not nice if you end up drunk with me, so I will drink it instead of you." Zach answered, trying to hide his blushing because he could feel he just did. He felt that if he let Keira get drunk something bad could happen.

Then, he let out a long, deep sigh…

"Can I ask why? I mean why would you take the admission test for the military training?" Zach asked suddenly out of curiosity. It was strange, but for some reason, he wanted to know why would someone like Keira take the admission test for Military Academy.

Keira chuckled because of the opening of a great opportunity. For her, it was a sign to push things through.

"Hmm, do you really want to know? But why, why are you asking me that? Is it perhaps because you think I will not make it till the end? Because you said before that I'm clumsy. Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm confident I will pass all the exams and will be admitted for sure." She said nonchalantly.

Zach looked at Keira and said, "Physically? I really think you won't last long in the training if you ever pass and get admitted… But then, I do believe in one's perseverance… If you believe in one thing and set your mind and body to it… then you will succeed in the end and that's for sure."

Keira seemed to not mind Zach's words as she just stared at his face intently, inspecting every detail on Zach's face as if she was memorizing every part of it.

"Do you really want to know the reason I am desperately trying to get inside that Military Base?" Keira whispered not blinking an eye as she met Zach's confused eyes.

Then, Keira leaned on closer at him, not giving him a chance to say a word as she closed into him leaving only an inch between them.

Zach was caught off-guard with Keira's bold movements and it left him speechless for a brief moment.

'What is she doing?' He thought with his eyes going wide, then he felt Keira's palms on his both cheeks.

He froze that instant. He did not move at all like his body became a statue with that simple touch.

'What is wrong with me?' He complained to himself, thinking that it could be the alcohol's effect.

He saw Keira smile at him. It was a pleasant and beautiful smile that not only carved on her lips but also touched her deep-seated eyes.

"General Zacharias Lim, I, Keira Chan, will absolutely get admitted to that Academy so I can get closer to the person I like for the first time in my life," Keira whispered to his face and Zach could smell the sweetness of her breath mixed with alcohol.

But that was not it, because for some reason his body was reacting on his own.

At that instant, he knew what could happen next, but instead of pushing Keira away from him, he did nothing but stayed put, it was like he was anticipating what would happen next as he remained frozen.

Then, Keira added in her horse sweet voice, "I will enter the Military Academy to conquer you, General Zach. So be ready, because I never take a 'NO' for an answer."

That was the last words that Keira dropped before she closed the gap and kissed Zach on his lips, leaving him just staring at her in bewilderment...
