Annie nearly buckled at the knees.
"Ivy, how can your imagination be so wild? There's no way anything like that could happen between us!"
Anyone could see they were just ordinary friends. No one should suspect she harbored any feelings for Sophia. After all, she was an actress; pretending not to care or like someone was a simple task.
Ivy leaned forward, whispering mysteriously into Annie's ear, "I saw everything that day. Don't worry, Annie—I won't tell anyone."
"What did you see?" A cold sweat formed on Annie's back, but she felt Ivy was probably testing her, so she maintained a calm expression.
"I saw you two..." Ivy, ever the straightforward one, extended both thumbs and twisted them together wildly, perfectly mimicking an intense "passionate entanglement."
"Impossible!" Annie blurted out. "There were clearly only the two of us—"
She immediately realized she'd misspoken.
