BAM!
Christopher, Advika, and Sylvia came to an abrupt stop, the massive city gate groaning open before them. Four heavily armored military vehicles, their anti-monster turrets swiveling ominously, rolled out and advanced towards them with a mechanical growl.
Christopher and the sisters watched as the armored vehicles screeched to a halt.
A young, blonde-haired man, his military uniform crisp and pristine, stepped out of the lead vehicle, his gaze cold and calculating. He scanned Christopher and the girls with a deep frown, his expression conveying both suspicion and a hint of arrogance.
"What are you three doing here?!" he demanded, his voice sharp and authoritative, the soldiers standing rigidly behind him, their rifles held at the ready.
"Excuse me, we are technically in the same age, mind your tone!" Christopher replied, his own frown deepening, his tone laced with a subtle defiance.
"Show respect to the Vice Commander!" a soldier barked, his face hard and unyielding.
"Vice Commander? Then why are you guys treating us like we're some criminals or spies?" Sylvia asked, her voice calm and measured, her eyes observing the soldiers' stances and the vehicles' weaponry.
"Hey girl... We got news that the golden organizations are active within the city's sectors... So we have to be on guard." The Vice Commander turned his attention to Christopher.
"So we have to implement some security measures."
"Hmph!"
Christopher scoffed, his disdain evident. "So what are these 'security measures' you speak of?" he mocked, making no attempt to conceal his contempt. The other party's unfriendly demeanor gave him no reason to be cordial, even if the man was the youngest Vice Commander in the city's history.
"You—"
Aaawoolll!!!!
The Vice Commander's head tilted to the side, his eyes widening as he spotted a colossal figure in the distance, directly behind the three.
A fifteen-meter-tall Legendary-stage werewolf, its muscles rippling beneath its crimson fur, was marching towards them with a thunderous gait, the ground trembling with each massive step.
"A Legendary-stage Beast?!" The Vice Commander's eyes widened in alarm.
He turned back to the three, his voice laced with accusation. "You led it here! What's your motive?!" he yelled, his composure cracking.
Christopher frowned, his expression conveying his frustration at the baseless accusation. "Why would we bring such a beast to our city's doorstep?! And besides, if it were truly following us, we'd be running, not casually walking... Second, enraged beasts like this one won't be scared of anything, they are powerful and have a very limited number of predators, so why would they be intimidated by three humans?"
"You..." The Vice Commander was lost for words, his confidence shaken, unable to formulate a suitable retort.
"Vice Commander, I think we should prioritize taking care of this beast before it breaches the city's wall." the soldier who had previously yelled at Christopher whispered urgently.
With gritted teeth, the Vice Commander commanded, "Apprehend these three, keep them confined to the wall's perimeter, and await my next order."
The soldiers nodded, their expressions grim, and moved to surround Christopher, Advika, and Sylvia.
Advika frowned darkly, her hand instinctively moving towards her concealed weapon, but before she could act, Christopher whispered, "Don't resist, just follow the order... At least, they are taking us inside the city." He flashed a reassuring smile at the sisters.
Advika stared at him for a moment, her gaze searching his, and then nodded in reluctant agreement.
The soldiers grabbed the three, their grips firm, and pulled them towards the waiting vehicles. With a forceful shove, they forced them inside, and the vehicles roared to life, speeding away towards the imposing city wall.
The Vice Commander then turned his attention to the crimson-furred humanoid wolf, its eyes glowing with predatory intensity.
He raised his walkie-talkie, his voice calm despite the rising tension.
"Open fire," he commanded.
BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!
Countless heavy autocannons mounted on the city walls and the armored vehicles opened fire, the deafening roar of their rapid-fire projectiles tearing through the sound barrier. The bullets, designed to pierce even the toughest monster's hides, moved with deadly speed and unerring accuracy, impacting the wolf's thick fur.
BOOOM! BOOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM!
Simultaneously, countless missiles launched from the city's missile batteries streaked across the sky, their fiery trails illuminating the darkening landscape, all converging on the same target, the Legendary-stage wolf.
"Now I understand why the ground is so barren, with only dried and blackened soil remaining," Sylvia said in a low voice, her voice laced with a hint of grim understanding.
"Monsters attack the city's wall regularly, and the soldiers have to resort to using powerful weapons just to take them down... But this guy is a Legendary-stage wolf... All these attempts to take it down are futile," Christopher said, his voice laced with a knowing confidence.
"Shut up! Do you even know what you're saying?!" The soldiers sitting in the front of the vehicle hissed, their tone cold and threatening.
"Am I wrong?" Christopher asked, his gaze unwavering.
"You... You are right," the driver admitted, sighing deeply. "But with the young Vice Commander in charge, this situation will be taken care of. Besides, this isn't the first Legendary-stage beast that he has dealt with."
Christopher nodded, his expression revealing nothing, while Sylvia asked, "What level is he in?"
"The Commander is a Legendary-stage tamer... Who has three Legendary-stage beasts under his command, so taking down a lone wolf won't pose a significant threat," the soldier said, his eyes filled with unwavering adoration.
'Hmm... That guy might be a Legendary-stage wolf, but I recognize its kind...' Christopher thought, his mind racing. He looked at the soldiers. "Is this the first time you're facing this specific beast?"
The two soldiers looked at him, their expressions a mixture of confusion and suspicion, but they still nodded in confirmation. "Yeah, this is the first."
Christopher chuckled softly, a hint of dark amusement in his eyes.
"Why are you laughing?!" a soldier turned to him, a frown etched on his face.
"That wolf is known as, the Blood-Night-Wolf. It possesses a unique skill that can increase all its stats and skills by a staggering 200%... Which means, it will evolve into a Mythical-stage beast... Let me ask you, is your young commander strong enough to face such a beast?" he asked, a knowing smirk playing on his lips.
"Huh?"
The two soldiers glanced at each other, their expressions now filled with a growing unease, then back at Christopher. "How the hell do you know that?"
"Why wouldn't my Master know that? You're simply ignorant... If you don't release us, or at least warn your Vice Commander, you'll regret it," Advika finally spoke, her voice sharp and resolute.
"....."
The soldiers were stunned into silence, their confidence wavering.
_____
GRRRAAAAAA!!!!
The huge wolf emerged from the smoke and dust cloud, its crimson fur glowing with an even more intense light, not a single scratch visible on its body.
"Hmm.... I'm impressed, You survived," the Vice Commander said, his voice laced with confidence.
"Vice Commander, Phillip... What should we do now?" the soldier beside him asked, his voice trembling slightly.
"What else should we do? Kill it, of course," Phillip replied, his voice regaining its arrogance.
He rubbed the ornate red ring on his hand, and before the astonished eyes of the soldiers, three dark figures materialized, flying out from the ring and taking the forms of a colossal serpentine creature with a glowing red ruby embedded in its forehead... The second, a huge bulking bear, its back covered in razor-sharp black spikes... And lastly, a black spider with glowing red eyes and a steel-like exoskeleton...
...All three were Legendary-stage beasts, their combat strength ranked at Level 8, 7, and 6, respectively.
The three terrifying beasts, their eyes glowing with predatory intent, fixed their gazes on the wolf before them.
Phillip, who stood before his summoned beasts, folded his arms, not even considering the huge wolf a significant threat.
"Let's show this thing it isn't the first Legendary-stage beast we have slain," he said with a confident chuckle.
"Together... Unleash your ultimate attacks," he commanded, his voice ringing with authority, planning to end this swiftly and decisively, and to demonstrate to Christopher and his group that he was not to be underestimated.
The huge Beasts opened their mouths wide, and unleashed three powerful dark beams of energy.
The air crack with power, as the three blasts moved with precise accuracy, and collided heavily on the wolf.
BOOOM!
BAM!!
The huge fearsome beast fell back First to the ground, the impact rising dust and smoke into the air.
"Now that's how to take care of a legendary-stage Beast."
Phillip said arrogantly... He turned his head to the stunned Soldiers and added:
"You know what to do with the carcass."
"Wow! Vice commander is still the strongest!!"
"Of course, I am---"
BAM!
BAM!!
Everyone froze, and subconsciously turned their heads to the wolf... Which was clearly still alive. Its chest fur burst away from the impact it received... In a simpler form:
The beast was still alive.
