"There isn't?"
Disappointment welled up in Su Ningxue's eyes as she stared at Lu Fei, unwillingly saying, "I don't believe you, you're lying! You must have it, right?"
"Really, there isn't, Miss Su. There are no evil objects in this world made specifically for anyone," Lu Fei shook his head.
"I don't believe it!" Su Ningsnow bit her lip. "What do you want? Money, or something else? I can find a way to get it."
"Miss Su, your life is already something many people dream of but can never achieve. What does it matter if it's the truth or a lie?"
"You are not me, how can you know my pain? Anyway, if you don't give me the evil object, I won't leave!"
Su Ningsnow simply acted unreasonable, hugging the black cat and sitting on the sofa with a pout.
Lu Fei looked at her and said, "Then, let me ask you, if the price of hearing the truth is permanent deafness, would you be willing?"
"If I lose my hearing, how can I hear the truth?" Su Ningsnow tilted her head in confusion.
"You don't need to hear it; the evil object can directly sense it for you. But from then on, you will never hear any sound in the world again."
"The music and movies you love, the voices of your parents and loved ones, even the sounds of insects and birds... all these things in the world, you will not be able to hear them anymore."
"Your world will be left with only absolute silence, with no possibility of recovery!"
"Can you bear such a price?"
Lu Fei's voice was very calm, but it gave Su Ningxue a heart-stopping feeling.
She froze for a moment, involuntarily touching her ears, and said, "Isn't there a smaller price to pay?"
"Miss Su, an evil object is still an evil object! Evil objects don't bargain with you! They can harm or help, but the premise is that you can afford the price," Lu Fei said with a slight smile.
Su Ningxue held the black cat and remained silent.
"There are many ways to hear the truth; you don't necessarily have to rely on evil objects." Lu Fei said no more.
His words were not exaggerated at all.
Who would lose their hearing completely just to hear a few truths?
At that moment.
A figure appeared at the door, someone walked into the pawnshop.
He had an elegant yet imposing presence, with an extraordinary demeanor.
It was Su Liguo.
"Dad, why are you here?" Su Ningxue stood up in surprise.
"I came to see if you've been causing any trouble for Manager Lu," Su Liguo said with a smile, gently tapping his daughter's nose.
Then, turning to Lu Fei, he said, "Manager Lu, my daughter has always been a bit willful. I hope she hasn't caused you any trouble?"
"Not at all, Miss Su is great. The shop is much livelier with her around," Lu Fei stood up and greeted Su Liguo.
"That's good! How is Manager Lu's friend? Is his condition better?"
"He has fully recovered, all thanks to Chairman Su's help. I really appreciate it; it was a lot of trouble for Chairman Su to come all this way."
Lu Fei didn't mention that the 'friend' was actually the puppy in his arms.
"As long as I could help, that's great!" Su Liguo said with a hearty laugh, "Actually, I came here specifically to invite Manager Lu to dinner. Don't rush to refuse; I have something to ask of Manager Lu."
"Feel free to tell me, Chairman Su," Lu Fei said with a smile.
"Manager Lu, you may not know this, but this matter can only be discussed over a meal. You'll understand when we get there," Su Liguo kept it mysterious.
"Alright, I'll follow President Su's arrangement."
Since Su Liguo had just done him a big favor, Lu Fei couldn't very well refuse.
Then,
the group got into Su Liguo's car and arrived at an ancient-looking building in the outskirts of the city.
When Lu Fei got out of the car, he was surprised to see that it was a Taoist temple.
The sign on the temple read 'Lingyun Guan'.
"President Su, wasn't the plan to have a meal?" Lu Fei was very puzzled, wondering what Su Liguo was up to.
"Yeah, Dad, if we're eating, why come to a Taoist temple instead of a restaurant?" Su Ningxue also wore a confused expression.
"The place for our meal is right here." Su Liguo made a gesture to invite them in.
Everyone, filled with curiosity, followed Su Liguo into the Taoist temple.
After entering, a young Taoist came forward to greet them and led them to the vegetarian dining hall.
The temple had winding paths leading to secluded spots, creating a very elegant environment. Even the vegetarian dining hall had private rooms.
The one they were in was called Lingzhi Hall.
"Chairman Su, are there any special customs we should follow when eating here?" Lu Fei asked curiously.
Could it be that after eating too much of the finest food, these rich people want to change their taste and eat some simple country fare?
"Manager Lu, it seems you don't know the origins of Lingyun Temple," Su Liguo said.
"Mr. Su, please tell me."
"This Lingyun Temple was originally a dilapidated small temple with hardly any worshippers and no fame. But two years ago, a treasure appeared, which immediately attracted countless worshippers."
"What kind of treasure?"
Everyone looked at Su Liguo curiously.
Su Liguo took a sip of tea and continued, "Two years ago, this Taoist temple was in ruins, barely maintained by a Taoist master named Qingfeng."
"Every day, Master Qingfeng would meditate and offer incense to the ancestors, diligently maintaining the temple."
"Perhaps his sincerity moved the ancestors. One night, he had a dream. In the dream, the ancestor pointed to a place in the courtyard."
"When Master Qingfeng woke up in the morning, he found that the portrait of the ancestor had mysteriously drifted to the spot in the courtyard, exactly where the ancestor had pointed in the dream."
"So, he brought tools and started digging, going down three meters deep, and finally unearthed a treasure."
"The treasure was shaped like a piece of meat, but it was not made of flesh! It wasn't a plant either, nor was it a stone," Su Liguo paused, "I imagine by now, Manager Lu should know what it is."
Lu Fei blurted out, "Flesh-like Ganoderma?!"
"Exactly, it's the Flesh-like Ganoderma." Su Liguo nodded, "Master Qingfeng kept the Flesh-like Ganoderma in the temple, and every so often, he would take some of its flesh to provide for the worshippers here."
Su Ningxue asked curiously, "What is the Flesh-like Ganoderma?"
"Meat lingzhi, also known as Tai Sui, is not the same as the deity Tai Sui; it's a very special existence. It's like meat but not quite meat, and it can live for thousands of years," Lu Fei explained. "According to legend, eating its flesh can cure all diseases and prolong life."
"There's something so amazing!" Su Ningxue exclaimed, her eyes wide open.
"Yes, that's why I came here," Su Liguo said with a smile. "To be honest with you, Mr. Lu, after the incident with the Buddha statue, my wife and mother's health has declined significantly. I've been looking for ways to restore their health. After some inquiries, I found out about this place."
"If it's really meat lingzhi, then of course that's good news," Lu Fei said. "But meat lingzhi is extremely rare; there are probably only a few people in the world who have seen it. Moreover, there's another type called Evil Tai Sui."
"What's Evil Tai Sui?" Su Ningxue asked, like a curious child.
"Evil Tai Sui looks similar to ordinary Tai Sui, but it usually grows in places with dense yin energy. This type of Tai Sui has the power to bewitch people's minds, causing them to turn against each other or fall into misfortune."
Lu Fei explained patiently.
"As the saying goes, don't disturb the soil on Tai Sui's head, because those who dig up Evil Tai Sui often end up with a bad fate."
"In fact, Evil Tai Sui is also a kind of evil object."
Su Ningxue immediately became worried: "Then how do we distinguish it? What if the Tai Sui here is Evil Tai Sui?"
