Tyler Hayward and his team disguised themselves as Stark Industries staff, using their shapeshifting abilities. With the help of Skrull spies who had already infiltrated the company, they attempted to get close to Tony Stark.
However, they soon discovered something unexpected—Tony had been spending a lot of time with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
As everyone knew, the Ninja Turtles were not only part of the NYPD task force but also full-fledged members of the Justice League.
Given that Tony Stark was now deeply involved in the League's internal research project, Hayward deduced that the Turtles must also be connected to this initiative.
Following this lead, they uncovered a crucial piece of intelligence—
The laboratory working on deciphering the Skrulls' shapeshifting abilities was located in the sewers, the very place where the Ninja Turtles lived.
It made sense.
As superheroes, the Turtles' home would be far more secure than any ordinary location. Placing the lab in their territory provided an extra layer of protection.
Armed with this information, Taylor Hayward made his decision—
He and his elite Skrull operatives would disguise themselves as the Ninja Turtles, infiltrate the sewer lab, and destroy the experiment.
Their shapeshifting powers allowed them to mimic any intelligent lifeform in the universe, but there was one flaw—
Even if they took on the Turtles' appearance, they wouldn't inherit their skills or abilities.
The shells they morphed were purely cosmetic.
Still, it was a risk they were willing to take.
Hayward's team infiltrated the New York Police Department, disguising themselves as newly recruited task force officers, and approached the Ninja Turtles.
NYPD Task Force Building
Inside the task force headquarters, right next to the NYPD, the four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were in the middle of their routine.
"Mikey, stop playing games."
Donatello casually tossed a baseball at Michelangelo's head.
Thud.
"Ow!"
"It's our turn to patrol today," Donatello reminded him.
Michelangelo sighed, putting away his game console.
"I was so close to beating that level…"
"Just listen to Donnie and get moving," Raphael grumbled, twirling his steel sai in his hand before stepping toward Michelangelo aggressively.
Leonardo, the eldest and most composed of the group, sat nearby, calmly polishing his katana with a rag.
Life had been relatively peaceful for the four brothers lately.
Ever since they stepped out of the shadows and became official members of the NYPD task force, their lives had changed drastically.
Of course, none of it would have been possible without Batman and the bold decision of NYPD Chief George Stacy.
Knock, knock, knock!
A sudden knocking at the door snapped them out of their routine.
"Hey, hello!"
Standing at the entrance was a group of new recruits. The man in front, holding a notebook, looked absolutely thrilled.
"I'm a new officer," he said excitedly, "and, uh… I'm a huge fan."
After a brief hesitation, he glanced behind him at his teammates.
"We're all your fans."
The Turtles exchanged knowing glances.
Michelangelo grinned.
"Autographs? No problem, dude. Just hand me a pen!"
"Alright, form a line! One at a time!"
For the next few minutes, the disguised Skrulls collected their autographs before leaving the room.
As soon as the door shut behind them—
"Something's off."
Donatello spoke first.
The others turned to him.
"What do you mean?" Michelangelo asked, confused.
"According to my system," Donatello said, tapping his computer, "they shouldn't be here."
Michelangelo blinked.
"Uh… what do you mean 'shouldn't be here'?"
Donatello's fingers moved quickly across his keyboard.
"Surveillance footage just confirmed something weird. The guy who asked for your autograph? He was seen outside Chief Stacy's office not long ago."
He looked up.
"In other words—some of them might be Skrulls in disguise."
Leonardo immediately stood up, his face serious.
"Anton and Tony warned us about this," he said calmly. "Contact the lab. Tell them to stay on high alert."
"Wait, are we really just going to sit here and watch the Skrulls invade the lab?"
Raphael frowned, crossing his arms.
"Do you really think they're going to pull that off?"
Donatello shot him a knowing look.
"Let me ask you this—have you ever beaten those scientists in a fight?"
"Uh—"
Raphael hesitated.
He had no comeback.
Because, if he was being honest… he couldn't beat them.
The people in that sewer lab weren't just any scientists—they were the real deal.
Physicists. Geniuses. The kind of people who could probably argue someone to death with quantum mechanics alone.
"Relax."
Donatello leaned back, completely at ease.
"They're walking straight into the lion's den. No one's happier about this than those guys."
"Success."
Taylor Hayward's voice was calm.
He had no idea the Ninja Turtles had already figured them out.
"Let's begin."
With that, Hayward shifted—his body morphing, limbs reshaping, until he became Leonardo, the leader of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The other three Skrull operatives transformed into Michelangelo, Raphael, and Donatello.
Now in disguise, Hayward turned to the remaining Skrull soldiers.
"Stay alert. Be ready to back us up."
"Understood."
With their orders given, the four imposters made their way into the New York Police Department's underground access.
After the Turtles had joined the NYPD Task Force, the city had cleaned up sections of the sewers, even creating a direct passage for the Turtles to commute between work and home.
Finding it was easy.
Moving quickly, the disguised Skrulls navigated through the dimly lit tunnels, heading straight for their destination—the Ninja Dojo deep within the sewers.
As they approached, a shadowed figure stepped into their path.
A long tail flicked behind him, cutting through the air with a sharp whip-like sound.
Splinter.
His expression was unreadable as he sized them up.
"The lab is just ahead," he said, voice calm but firm.
Then, his gaze sharpened.
"Don't waste my time, little rascals."
"Yes. Understood."
The four Skrulls nodded hastily.
They all knew who this was.
Splinter had fought in the Battle of New York. He was a legend.
And, of course, any fan of the Ninja Turtles knew exactly who he was—their mentor, the one who raised them.
Without hesitation, the imposters hurried past him, heading straight for the laboratory.
Behind them, Splinter smirked.
Inside the sewer lab, the Skrull imposters stepped into a wide-open space—a room filled with high-tech equipment, glowing screens, and research papers stacked in neat piles.
Four men were sitting, waiting for them.
Tony Stark. Curtis Connors. Bruce Banner. Reed Richards.
They watched the approaching "Turtles" with amused smiles.
Tony let out a chuckle.
"Anton was right…" he mused, crossing his arms.
"They walked right in."
Connors flexed his fingers, his skin turning green, faint scales appearing along his cheeks.
"We were just thinking about how inconvenient it was to only study corpses," he said with a smirk.
"We needed live test subjects. You just saved us a whole lot of trouble."
Banner remained calm, giving a simple nod.
"They're all yours," he said evenly.
"If I Hulk out in here, the whole lab goes up in smoke."
Reed Richards leaned back in his chair, stretching slightly.
"Guess I'll sit this one out too. Not really a fighter, you know."
The four Skrulls froze.
A sinking realization set in.
They had walked straight into a trap.
