— I DON'T WANT ANY armed strangers here! — Floyd Kenagan was already signaling for the agents to shoot him.
The agents kept shouting for him to drop his gun. Carefully, Tommy raised the hand that was holding it and let go of Agent Jerry's shoulder. Soon one of his companions came and took his pistol from his hands. Another searched him, as did Katherine.
— I... I just want to get out of here!" said Tommy. — Just let us go!
— You're lucky to be alive! — replied one of the agents, who was searching him. — Things aren't easy today…
— Handcuff him — said Floyd, approaching.
— That's not necessary — replied Tommy, trying to negotiate with his mischievous manner, even with Katherine's constant reprimands. — Just open that door over there and we'll both be gone.
— No one is going to open those doors, I told you! — shouted Floyd, annoyed.
— Many have died before we got here, boy — said Gregory Evans — we won't let the President take that risk!
When he turned his attention to the door, Tommy noticed people knocking and forcing their way in, grunting animalistic sounds and making nonsense words. That's when he realized the seriousness of the situation. The library had actually become a refuge, a safe place from the evil that haunted its exterior.
Not even the President would be safe out there...
Observing the place better, he also saw traces of blood in the middle of the lobby and, following them with his eyes, found the corpse of the woman, shot dead by the agents, minutes before they arrived there, leaning against a corner of the wall.
— What's going to happen, Tom? — Katherine asked, once again in tears.
— I don't know, Katy, I don't know...
— You two don't need to worry — said the president, it was clear that they weren't influenced by the sound outside.
— And what the hell happened here, Sir? — Tom asked.
Floyd was about to intervene, but the President stopped him.
— We don't know yet, but we're investigating.
The other two agents who were investigating the perimeter were saying over the communicators that it was "all clear."
— Very well, — Floyd said. — Let's move forward and look for a path that leads to the roof, it's our best chance.
— I've already requested aerial extraction, sir. — said one of the agents.
— Great, we'll continue above.
