After failing to brew the antidote for half a day, Michelle was completely covered in charcoal. But the positive thing was that the explosions from her failures were getting smaller each time. Even while brewing, her control over the fire was improving.

Also, her control over the ingredients was getting better, so she could better compensate for imperfections in the fire's temperature.

Those two factors combined to make the explosions much smaller.

That made Michelle quite happy. She was no longer getting blown away from the cauldron. The explosions just puffed into her face, blackening it.

Still, she wasn't satisfied yet. The explosions still filled up the whole cauldron. She wanted to make them so small she could barely see them.

For that, she needed to increase her control over the fire.

But she also wanted to keep increasing her control over the ingredients.

A thought struck her. Theoretically, she could do both.
