It took a few days, but eventually things slowly calmed down. Those who couldn't regain their composure were sent back to the clan and the rest of us stayed.

From the massacre and the leaving of clan members, we lost around a third of our total fighting force. Once the initial phase of sadness and shock was over, it was replaced with anger.

Anger at whatever it was that had massacred members of our clan, anger at ourselves for being too late for help, anger for now being able to take immediate revenge for them, anger for not being able to recover their bodies.

After days of interrogation, we finally got all the details on what had happened. The initial expedition had gone off without a hitch.

The elders in the task force dealt with their evil ancient spirit with relative ease and their team cleaned up the remaining evil spirits shortly after.
