Let rewind the time by a few minutes.
The Chitauri army continued to pour into Earth unceasingly.
All the superheroes of the Justice League were fully resisting the extraterrestrial enemy.
Special forces, along with the New York police, were striving to maintain order outside the battle zone.
And George, the police chief, bravely led a task force directly into the combat zone in Manhattan to fight against the aliens.
Various scenes, captured by numerous cameras outside the Manhattan area and rapidly spread via the internet, were quickly disseminated.
In a short time, this caused panic among most of the world population.
It worth mentioning that, despite the extreme crisis, there were still fearless journalists wielding cameras, broadcasting live through television and the internet from the highest points outside the Manhattan area, capturing the entire mid-air battlefield.
Their professional dedication was commendable.
However, no one was paying attention to this team of journalists broadcasting the current situation in Manhattan everyone focus was on the live broadcast footage of this great battle in New York, or rather the Battle of Manhattan, which gripped the hearts of billions around the world.
Despite it only being a matter of minutes since the incident began, the battle had quickly escalated in public discourse.
Aliens invading again!
Such alarming news spread panic.
As is well-known, panic is an emotion that can spread unchecked.
At this moment, various organizations around the world, including national governments and the United Nations, were contacting American authorities at the earliest opportunity to offer support.
Regardless of their motives, at this moment, the hearts of people around the world were united.
Yet, the U.S. authorities had not responded.
The situation was urgent, and the U.S. could only manage to immediately dispatch their own support troops to Manhattan, not having the capacity to consider assistance from others.
But as one might imagine, even in such a dire situation, the U.S. would not allow foreign military forces to enter its territory.
If push came to shove, they would resort to nuclear weapons.
Yes, the U.S. was already prepared.
Should the Justice League fail to hold, they would immediately deploy nuclear weapons and bomb the entire Manhattan.
Under no circumstances could they allow the aliens to successfully invade Earth.
The live broadcast had its limitations.
The journalist team, positioned at the highest point outside the Manhattan area and pointing their cameras towards the sky above Manhattan, could only observe the airspace over Manhattan.
The combat in the streets within the region was not clearly visible.
Of course, even just the aerial combat footage was enough to make everyone feel terrified and their scalps tingle.
People saw bizarre and ugly, unnamed aliens, riding on flying devices, recklessly destroying the entire Manhattan area.
Strangely, they did not seem in a hurry to leave Manhattan.
Some guessed that they were intimidated.
The Chitauri discovered that whenever any of them tried to break out of the area, they would face relentless joint attacks from the enemies.
Even if all the soldiers charged together, they could not break through the enemy defenses.
The adversaries, several individuals with extraordinary abilities, could be considered elite forces even by universal standards, the elite of the elite.
With the numbers currently entering Earth, they could only hope to bully and suppress the opposition with their sheer numbers. Defeating or killing them would be very difficult.
However, the Chitauri were not in a hurry.
Their army continued to stream into the planet, and with the number of soldiers deployed this time, as long as they could successfully enter Earth, they would be able to overwhelm the opposition.
Therefore, the Chitauri soldiers were not rushing to come to blows but planned to bide their time until their entire army had entered Earth.
That would be the time to secure victory.
For their enemies—the Justice League, special forces, the remaining Captain America from the Avengers, Thor who had not yet joined the Avengers but had promised cooperation, and even the NYPD task force—everyone hearts were heavy.
They were not fools and could clearly recognize the dire situation they faced.
Although it seemed that the arrival of the Hulk, Doctor Lizard, the Fantastic Four, and the Green Goblin had turned the tide somewhat, the enemy numbers were still too great and continued to increase.
If this continued, within half an hour, hundreds of thousands of Chitauri soldiers would appear in the entire Manhattan area.
Even if the U.S. military arrived, it would be difficult to completely eliminate the enemy.
Unless they resorted to a nuclear barrage.
If the situation truly became that severe, the actions of the Justice League would undoubtedly be deemed a failure.
The critical issue was that no one knew if a nuclear barrage could destroy the space portal.
As long as the space portal remained, the enemy would still have an entry point to invade Earth.
With this entry, Earth—the entire planet—would gradually turn into a massive battlefield.
At this moment, a group gathered to face the densely packed, swarming Chitauri soldiers occupying much of the sky, along with several biological warships.
Clearly, the Chitauri intended to overwhelm them with sheer numbers.
"Regarding the space portal, Batman is taking action," said the Green Arrow calmly as he exchanged information with those around him, mostly giving out information himself.
"The space portal is protected by a layer of special energy emitted from the Cosmic Cube.
This energy is extremely powerful, making it impossible for anyone to approach, and nothing can break through this protective force, not even a nuclear bomb!"
"What do we do then?" asked Captain America, his expression grave.
"If we can't shut down the space portal, the world will plunge into war."
"Don't worry, Batman already has a plan!" added Green Arrow.
As he spoke, he seemed to notice something and looked up towards the top-floor apartment of Stark Tower.
"Look over there!"
Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh!
As soon as these words were uttered, everyone around, including Captain America, Thor, members of the special forces, the Fantastic Four, Dr. Connors, the Hulk, and others, all turned their heads to look.
A figure flew out from the top-floor apartment.
"Loki!"
Thor frowned, exclaimed in surprise, and swung his hammer, propelling himself forward with a burst of violent wind.
Whoosh, whoosh!
As the sound of air tearing echoed, Thor quickly reached Loki side and caught him.
Meanwhile, Wonder Woman leaped from the top-floor apartment, chasing after Loki.
However, the gaze of the others merely swept over them briefly before shifting to another person.
That was Batman, the one Green Arrow had mentioned who had a way to close the space portal and block the Chitauri invasion.
"Look, I told you he had a plan," said Green Arrow with a smile.
Sharing the memories with Anton, he knew clearly that the original had already taken the Mind Stone scepter from Loki.
Using the Mind Stone scepter, which has powers similar to the Cosmic Cube, they could easily breach the protective field around the Cosmic Cube and destroy the device powering it, thereby closing the space portal.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Green Arrow said, turning to his companions.
"The biggest problem is solved!"
"Now, it time to close the door and beat the dog!"
