In the comfort of his room, while examining the pages of the Death Note, Light suddenly closed the notebook.
Light wondered internally, 'Could the Death Note kill me?'
[10 Fate Points for that information.]
The cold, emotionless voice of the system came soon after.
'Understood.' Light recognized the price to pay.
[The Death Note is capable of killing Level 1 and 2 Existences]
Hearing this, Light squeezed his eyes shut and then quickly opened them. There was a strange gleam in his brown eyes at that moment.
From what he understood from the system, the Existence Level is linked to the inherent talent of the species.
Humans rarely exceed Existence Level 1 at birth. Only a few are born at Level 2, and one in a million is born as a Level 3 Existence.
Pureblood Devils, on the other hand, start out as at least a Level 3 Existence, possessing between 80 and 159 Physical, Magical and Spiritual Power.
Of course, the Existence Level does not in itself determine who is stronger. For example, he possesses the strength of a Level 4 Existence, even if he is only at the beginning of the power scale in that category, since such Existences are already born with at least 160 power and have a much greater ability to amplify their strength compared to a Level 1 Existence.
Still with this knowledge in mind, Light chose not to advance his level of existence for the time being.
'Turning into a Reincarnated Devil would also raise my Existence Level, correct?' Light asked.
[Yes.]
That cleared up a lot of doubts for him.
"Heh, from what I could sense with my Haki, Issei has only reached Existence Level 2. He hasn't even come close to becoming a Level 3 Existence." Light muttered to himself with a tone of contempt.
Issei's natural potential was inferior to that of many humans. Even after his reincarnation as a devil, he was still less powerful than many of his original kind.
"Nico Nico Nii... Nico! Nico Nico Nii, Nicooo...!"
Feeling his cell phone vibrate and hearing the unusual ringtone remixed, Light picked it up, identifying a call from Utaha Kasumigaoka.
"Hi?" Light answered: "Did you change the ringtone on my phone?"
"Hahaha, what did you think?" Utaha's laugh sounded amused in Light's ear. She continued: "Are you available now, by any chance?"
"Yes, I am." Light confirmed, adding: "I'll reconfigure the ringtone."
"Don't do that!" Utaha's voice sounded a little louder, and she quickly added: "That's the special ringtone for when I call. Isn't that fun?"
"I'm at the supermarket, everyone heard." Light lied.
"Really? Hahaha, that's hilarious~"
Hearing her laugh, a mischievous smile appeared on Light's face.
"It was a lie, I'm at home." Light revealed.
"Ah, what a drag..." She sounded disappointed: "You caught me, Mr. Trickster."
"It's Light."
"Mr. Trickster." She insisted, ignoring his correction: "I'm at the café near the station next to your house. I'll give you 10 minutes to get there."
"All right, all right." Light agreed: "Hang on, I'm on my way."
After ending the call, he stored the Death Note in his ability,
He quickly changed his clothes and left his room.
"Light, where are you going?" His mother asked.
Light finished changing his shoes, then turned around.
"I'm meeting a friend." He said, "I'll be back later."

Light entered the café, attracting stares. Sophisticatedly dressed, his brown hair hid intense eyes. His white shirt, slightly open, revealed a necklace, and his dark blazer outlined his shape. With a confident and mysterious air, he exuded attraction.
"Light!" Utaha called out.
Seeing the beautiful young woman waving to Light, several women sighed sadly.
On the other hand, some of the young men were disappointed to realize that the beautiful girl, who was sitting alone, was waiting for the young man who had just arrived.
"Dai, you missed your chance."
"Tsk." Grumbled the boy called Dai Mitarai: "So she wasn't lying when she said she was waiting for her boyfriend..."
"Hahaha!"
Dai Mitarai has wavy brown hair that falls slightly over his forehead. He has large, expressive brown eyes. His face has an unpleasant expression and he has fair skin. He is wearing a blue shirt with chest pockets and a dark T-shirt underneath.
Noticing Dai's visible displeasure, the other three friends who were with him burst into laughter.
Light, for his part, approached Utaha and elegantly pulled up a chair to sit in front of him.
"Have I kept you waiting too long?" Light asked with a smile.
"Actually, you were very punctual, Mr. Trickster~" Utaha replied with a playful tone.
"I must say, you're still as elegant as I remember and you look even more radiant."
With a smile, Light complimented her, apparently oblivious to the frequent glances from the young men near their table.
Utaha has long black hair and enigmatic red eyes, adorned by a white headband. Wearing a pink blouse, a beige jacket, a navy blue skirt, dark stockings and white shoes, she exudes an unpretentious sophistication.
Utaha directed her gaze at Light and, with a soft tone, said: "Mr. Deceiver, your words are so flattering~!"
Although Light's comments were a little bold, they didn't displease her.
Tomoya Aki's intentions were clear to her, so whatever Light said now, his words would certainly sound sweeter to her.
Light then looked at the next table and asked, "And these are your friends?"
Utaha said with cold indifference: "I don't know those boys. And the one with the brown, wavy hair was bothering me. They even followed me here."
"So you called me to chase them away?" Light asked. "Do you want me to deal with them?"
"You don't have to be so drastic." She whispered, and despite maintaining a neutral expression, her cheeks flushed. "I just want you to pretend to be my boyfriend for a while."
"If you like, we can make it happen." He winked at her playfully.
"... Are you talking nonsense again?" Utaha turned even redder. Trying to keep her composure, she teased: "Are you sure you can play with me like that? Won't your girlfriend mind?"
"Actually, I don't have a girlfriend." Light said, opening his hands.
"Ohh... Got it..." Utaha murmured, almost inaudibly. "So, you're single..." She lowered her head, distractedly playing with the spoon in her glass. There was a small smile on her face.

Light noticed a new notification appearing before his eyes. Although his face maintained a serene smile, internally he was laughing.
Noticing the waitress approaching his table, Light asked: "Hi, I'd like a coffee without sugar, please."
"Of course, sir." She replied, registering the order.
Utaha, raising her head, added: "And also two pieces of cake, please." Looking at Light, she asked: "Do you like strawberry cake?"
"That's fine." Light agreed.
"Two pieces of strawberry shortcake, then." She confirmed. "Oh, and a cappuccino too."
"Got it." The waitress finished her notes and left.
"Hey, Mr. Trickster."
"What's up, Miss Third Place?"
Hearing Light's reply, Utaha pressed her lips together.
Taking a breath, she proposed, "Light-san, how about we go to the mall later?"
"Does this have to do with your writing career?" Seeing her nod, Light asked: "So, the idea is to pretend to be a couple while we walk around the mall?"
"You don't mince your words, do you?" She looked away, a blush tingeing her cheeks. "Yes, that's exactly it. I have no experience in this respect, and even though I can base it on what I've read, I want to feel the experience myself."
As she spoke, a smile appeared on Light's handsome face, highlighting his elegance.
Light's elegant and captivating countenance captured the attention of Utaha, who quickly looked away, using one hand to fan herself.
"It's a hot day, isn't it?" She commented.
A subtle smile deepened on Light's face as he watched the young woman in front of him.
"Of course." Light agreed.
