Dark Hour [2]

Through his subconscious, he felt movement underneath him; the bed made a shuffle as if someone was trying to move.

He stirred awake; his heavy eyes blinked open, and he saw that Atlas was acting suspicious, as if he was trying not to wake him up.

He was slowly trying to peel the covers away and crawl out of the bed. Sebastian's hand grabbed his shoulder, startling the youth.

The youth made a short gasp, then turned toward him with a hesitant smile. But the shoulder underneath his hand stiffened, and Atlas slowly pushed away his hand.

He said lightly, "Go back to sleep. I need to use the bathroom."

Sebastian didn't think too much about it. He said, "Don't take too long. We have a long day tomorrow."

Since the room was still dark, Sebastian didn't see his expression completely. He wasn't certain—but he thought he saw a bitter smile, and his eyes filled with contempt and mockery.
