A merchant stumbles on a grotto, lost. He eats his last apple. The merchant plants the seeds the next day to provide food for future lost travelers. 

And so, the nymph Theanore is born.

She would grow from a tiny seed to a splendid apple tree. She would meet many friends. Theanore will try her hand at being a merchant like her father. And she will get to know her lifetime companion, the merman Marinus.

But as every farmer can tell you, apple trees live only for about 150 years and so, with her tree dried up, so will Theanore die.

 But before that, she will live.

The meeting at the bank was boring. Both Theanore and Marinus agreed on that. The bank manager and Crassus went through a lot of numbers and possibilities, and they hardly asked the two toddlers for input.

It was decided that they will invest in a glass and paper factory. Both businesses have been looking for investors for quite some time, but no one wanted to take the risk.

Glass was a luxury good, as the temperature needed to make it required too much wood. Paper was cheap, both to make and to get, but with Theanore promising, she would regrow trees with mana every so often, it was decided that the process would become even cheaper.

One tree cost 1000 mana to grow to adulthood. A lot of negotiating was done, by both Theanore and the bank manager, and Theanore was allowed to absorb enough wealth up to one million mana.
