The truth between us

Soren

I didn't go to the hospital.

Not because I didn't want to, but because I couldn't.

The weight of my suspicions crushed me, the fear gnawed at the edges of my sanity. If I went there and saw the truth written all over his face, I wouldn't be able to ignore it.

So I did the only thing I could. I locked myself away.

Three days.

Three days of silence.

Three days of replaying every moment in my head.

Was it a coincidence? Or had I been blind this entire time?

By the time I finally emerged from my room, I knew I had to confront him.

I headed straight for the hospital with my mind made up.

Rowan was sitting up in bed, a doctor checking his vitals when I walked in. He looked up and frowned, his sharp eyes locking onto mine.

"Well, well," he drawled. "You're alive. I was starting to think something happened to you."

I didn't answer. I couldn't.
