Gianna stared at the stranger, her brown eyes holding a deep, thoughtful expression as a strange sense of familiarity washed over her. However, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't remember anything about him and this led her to conclude that he must be someone related to the original owner of the body. Moreover, she felt confused by the endearment he used, as though he were someone very familiar with her. His body language also suggested so, but how could she not know him if he was that close? Nevertheless, she was happy to make her first sale.
"Do you want to buy anything else, sir?" she asked, returning to her seat behind the desk.
The man's lips curled into a flirtatious smile, and he gave her a wink. "Aww, are we role-playing now?" he chuckled and patted her head. "Sweetie, I really wish I could buy you. A pity I can't!"
"Buy me?" Gianna repeated, her expression turning cold. Did she come across as a commodity now? She didn't recall doing so, but she could tell the man was trying to flirt with her. Unfortunately for him, she already had him on her bad side. He was at best average in appearance, dressed in a black suit and carrying a suitcase. He seemed to be in his late thirties, if not forty, and was hitting on her, and eighteen years old malnourished girl. All she felt was disgust.
"Would you like to buy anything else?" she repeated slowly, trying to get through to him.
"You're getting sweeter, my love," the man chuckled, slipping into the seat in front of her. He ran a hand through his short hair and tapped the desk rhythmically. "I'd love to play with you, but you see, I'm very busy. I have to go to work and can't be late..." He shot her an exaggerated look. "If only I had a car..." He studied her expression for a few seconds, with both of them staring into each other's eyes before he chuckled again.
"You don't need to ask your mother to give me hers, though. I mean, I'll earn enough soon! I'll even buy a big house, like the ones on TV. Just give me a few years... So, I'm torn between choosing a mansion and a villa. What do you think? I saw a beautiful villa on TV recently and I think it might worth it. But then, a mansion seems more regal and splendid. A penny for you thought?"
"Okay. Good luck with that," Gianna said perfunctorily, though she wasn't sure they were on the same page. Who rambles about their dream house when they can't even afford a car? She glanced at him and then at her phone, which had turned back on at some point. "Cash or card?"
"Huh?"
She looked at him and pointed with her chin. "Are you buying anything else? I need to process your payment."
"Payment? What payment?" the man asked, visibly shocked.
Gianna frowned, annoyed at being toyed with. "For the soda. That's $2. Cash or card?"
"You mean I have to pay? Are you kidding me?" His expression turned sour, and he looked at her as though offended by her question.
Gianna couldn't believe what she was hearing. "Of course, you have to pay. Nothing here is free. Or don't you pay for things when you shop outside?"
"Are you kidding me, Gianna?" His tone grew serious, and he crossed his arms.
"Why would I be kidding you?" she asked, genuinely confused. Was this man okay in the head?
"Fine, fine, fine," he muttered, rolling his eyes and poking her cheek. "Since you're so beautiful, I'll forgive you, but just this once." He stood, carrying his bag, smirking. "Goodbye, and wait for me to come home, my darling."
Gianna sat frozen, her brain momentarily short-circuited. When she saw him heading for the door, she snapped back to reality and ran after him. "Excuse me, sir! You HAVEN'T paid yet," she emphasized, blocking his way. This was the definition of daylight robbery.
The man froze mid-step, his face turning slightly pale. He stared her dead in the eyes. "Do you mean to tell me you really, truly want me, Kaye East, to pay?"
Gianna rolled her eyes. "Even if Kanye West came here, he'd have to pay. Sir, you may need to return what you took since you clearly can't afford it."
"But I'm your fiancé! You expect me to pay too?"
Fiancé?! Gianna's composed expression cracked, her eyes widening in shock. This was the fiancé Andrea had mentioned? The one who convinced the original Gianna to forgo college? This guy?! DAMN! FUCK!!!
She froze for a moment, her eyes glinting with shock, but she quickly regained her composure. He's Gianna's fiancé, not hers.
Kaye looked at her, confused by her pretense of not knowing him.
"Sir... You still have to pay," she said firmly. "
"What the hell do you mean, Gianna? Are you kidding me? Don't you know what's yours is mine too? Now and in the future. I'm your fiance, your future king, husband and leader. What's wrong with you?"
Before she could respond, they were interrupted by the arrival of another person, silencing them both.
