Dickson Dare was in a board meeting with his executives, discussing how the business would thrive, especially as he planned on setting up a branch in the UK. It wasn't up to two hours and the meeting finally ended. Clement Igwe his friend and business partner walked up to him and demanded a private meeting, just the two of them. It was normal stuff to Dickson but this time he had another intent.
'Good morning Dickson'
'Morning bro', giving him a tight hug.
' How are you doing'
'I'm fine...got some time to spare?', Clement demanded.
'Sure, why not', Dickson replied, heading to his office. Clement followed behind, and in awhile they were at his office.
' Clement, is there any problem?', Dickson asked sitting down and gesturing to his friend to have a seat.
' Hmmmm.....nothing much, but it's worth sorting', he replied.
'Ok...what is it?'
'About this UK branch, don't you think it's a bit rash?'
'Rash?', Dickson asked looking confused. ' I don't think it is, there is enough capital to set up our liquor branch there,' he said enthusiastically.
'Our.....', Clement laughed, sitting upright so that he was facing Dickson.
'You can't just say our', gesturing with his hand. 'When you don't mean it', he added looking more serious now.
'Wait, Clement is everything alright, cause I don't understand where all these are coming from', Dickson looks even more terrified.
' Dickson you know we own this liquor company together, is not like any of your businesses. How will you just draft a plan without my consent?'
Dickson scoffed, 'How?'
'Setting up a branch abroad is a whole lot of work, apart from the fact that I was told last month I will be the one running about in the UK doing the hard labour'
The situation was getting tough and Dickson was trying to figure out the whole shit. This is someone he has been in business with for more than 10 years. Walking up to him and dropping something that looks like disrespect and subjection doesn't feel cool at all.
'Wait...Clement we all agreed to this plan right from the onset, Why having trouble with it?'
'I never agreed, you just arranged everything and made me accept the development, You don't even care to hear what I have to say. You practically treat me like one of your workers', he said in a louder voice.
'Let me understand something, Is this just about the Liquor business in the UK?, because I feel like there is more to it'
'More to it you say?..., yes There is more to'
' If there is a problem why don't you say it directly'
'Of course, I did, but it had no effect', Clement said with a more intense look.
'Because you have the larger part of the company's shares and have gotten filled and established', lowering his voice 'You pulled out of the drug business', looking at his friend, he waited for a response.
'Is it what all this ranting and panting is for?!'
Dickson got up, with an angry look all over.
Now facing his friend, 'Do you expect me to keep this illegal tradition on? When I have other ambitions to perfect?'
'Ambitions indeed, cutting yourself off at this very moment won't help that so-called ambition of yours..... because I won't watch you walk away when I'm still halfway', he confessed looking right into his eyes furiously.
'Really.....?'
'Yes! Really.....we never agreed on leaving each other on the hook from the get-go, you have made it doesn't give you the right to leave me hanging. Clemz you know the nooks and corners in this business than I do', he said with a pitiful look.
Dickson chuckled, 'Are we now pulling each other down?'
'If the situation demands, yes!', he admitted with finality.
'I see, so be it then, I know by now you are aware of what it takes to pull me down right?', without waiting for a response, he turned from him, chuckling as he headed to his desk.
' Dear friend this is not going to be an easy fight', Clement said leaving the office, banging the door behind him.
This was more than a shock to Dickson, slamming his table, he shattered the flower vase and threw out the books on his table onto the floor. He couldn't believe this was happening at the peak of his career. He paced to and fro in his office with his hands akimbo, he picked up his phone and made a quick call.
After three seconds of ringing, the receiver finally answered.
'Good morning boss'
'Morning...I want you to watch Clement from today henceforth and report every suspicious movement right to me'
'Yes, boss!'
' Do a very good job', he said hanging up.

On the other hand, Clement Igwe was tensed, racking his brain on the possible ways he could bring the ambitious Judas down. He is fully aware that his friend has more control over the bad guys than he does, but nothing will stop him again. Of course, there had been a first and second time which failed. He went through some documents in his office and meticulously checked for any that could ensnare his friend. His findings aren't sufficient enough so he decided to cross to the dark side not minding the old days.
He called in his secretary.
'Aisha, put a call across Jeffery, tell him I need him in my office now'
'Yes sir', she said hurrying out.
Within a minute Jeffery walked in.
'Good Morning sir'
'Morning Jeffrey, please sit'
' Thank you, sir', he replied sitting across him.
'Jeffrey...the time is now', looking into his eyes.
' Sir....what time please', he asked looking confused.
Clement drew closer to the table with his hand folded on it.
'You know the game Dickson your boss has been playing right?'
Jeffery's eyes widened with excitement.
' I always told you, sir, that your friend only has himself at heart, he doesn't care so much or see you as his business partner'
' I have drawn the battle line already and I made my intentions known to him', he said looking around.
Jeffery has been expecting this moment since the opportunity presented itself, he need not prevent it but fight for it. He wanted to step up his game and be at a higher level in the paycheck, this was the only way, i.e Pointing out the ills of his boss' business partner.
' Where should we start from', Clement said cutting his thought short.
' Emmmm...emmm...we...', he stammered. ' We should take him by surprise'.
It was getting interesting, Clement shifted his seat closer and waited for the heavy drop.
' He might think you will be targeting his political ambition since it was the sphere you both landed on. Let's strike him from a different angle.....', he stopped, making sure the idea sank.
'Let's start with his family, it will be a good warning sign' he said with a big smile.
'Wow.....', mumbled lowering himself on the chair.
'You are so intelligent and strategic, Dickson doesn't joke with his family even as it seems like he doesn't care much', he said nodding his head gently.
' Why didn't I think of this', he added looking at Jeffery with a bold smile too.
Just then he looked serious again, Looking at Jeffery he asked,
'Do you know anyone that can get this job done?'.
Jeffery laughed carelessly forgetting he was in his boos' office.
'Of course, I know, don't you remember where I was born and brought up?.... Ajegunle', he said laughing harder.
This wasn't funny to Mr Clement, because growing in an area is not the solution to their problem. Sensing the serious look he continued.
'I will contact my friend, he owns and controls all the Ajegunle boys, . . . relax', he said demonstrating with his hands.
'It's like you don't understand the situation, Dickson knows all these hoodlums and he controls them more than you can imagine', he paused and waited for him to comprehend.
' How sure are you that this so-called friend of yours that you are seriously bragging about is not controlled by him'
'Haa....hmmmm.....I don't think so boss'. He sounded confused with his eyes rolling from one edge to another.
Clement seeing the imbalance, 'I haven't started the fight and I'm seeing failure staring at me eyeball to eyeball...Don't worry I have few gangs to trust'. He said feeling disappointed.
' You don't have to sound like this, we are not even sure yet, I know how to get the information from my friend. I know him too well, don't worry', he responded reassuring his boss.
' No cause for alarm, just let me know once you have gotten him on our side', Clement returned averting his gaze.
' Yes, before you go,...... we need to win the workers to our side, even if is not all at least supportive number'. He said shaking his head and hand in calculation.
But, that is a piece of cake, let's deal with this one first". He added.
' Alright, sir', Jeffery replied getting up from his seat before walking out of the office.
This must have taken shape, but Clement and Dickson deciding to bite each other is not going to be fun.
