Everyone at the service looked rich. They all were sitting there and crying, which I guess was expected since it was a funeral.
But, did these people all really know Ace or were they just here for the publicity since it was expected of them?
Many eyes were on me since I was sitting in the front row beside Dr. Ashley and Molly. They probably thought I was another maid at the house who worked for him.
Which is close, though I wasn't a maid. I was a nurse.
Dr. Ashley told me to introduce myself as Ace's wife.
Even though I wasn't sure how well that would play out...
After the funeral ends, many people all start talking with each other. I'm standing beside Dr. Ashley when a tall and skinny woman wearing a long black dress and big black hat comes up to us. She had glasses on and looked very pretty. She must be a model..
"Dr. Ashley, I'm so sorry. It's been such a hard day for us all" she says to him while crying and pulling him in for a hug.
She takes off her glasses and I see that her eyes are all puffy underneath. She must have cried, a lot. They reminded me of my eyes a few days ago.
"I know dear. He was too young" Doctor Ashley says to her patting her back.
After they disconnect, she turns towards me "Hi, my name is Alex" I say to her with a small smile while shaking her hand.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Veronica" she says to me.
"How did you know Ace?" She asks me.
"Oh, uh well he-he was my husband" I say with a bit of a stutter.
I think that was the first time I had said it out loud to anyone
She immediately let's go of my hand and drops her own.
With her shocked expression, she stares at me with confusion written all over her face "Your husband? That's not possible." She says In an angry tone.
"Oh no"I hear Dr. Ashley whisper under his breath.
"Im sorry?" I ask her in confusion .
"Ace was my fiancé" she says
Ohhhhhh. Oh dear.
Fuck "Oh." Is all I'm able to say "Well, ex fiancé. But we were engaged a month ago.
When the hell did he get married?!" She asks angrily
"Um, well-" Im cut off by Dr. Ashley.
"Veronica sweetheart, Ace and Alex knew each other from a long long time, even before you. And when things ended badly between you two, he ended up seeing Alex who also was his nurse. And long story short, they got married" he says.
She looks at me with hatred in her eyes "Im sorry for your loss" she says and turns on her heel and leaves.
Alright...
"Im sorry you had to go through that" dr. Ashley says to me
"It's fine. The decency she has to walk in here acting as if she's the one who got hurt. She's such a bitch" I say, she's the one who left Ace when he needed her the most.
This results in a little chuckle from Dr. Ashley.
A few more people come up to us and pay their respects.
Every time I introduced myself as Ace's wife, it resulted in everyone forming a shocked expression.
Almost everyone said "wow, I didn't know Ace was married"
When everyone left, we were also about to leave when
Dr. Ashley stops dead in his tracks.
"Shit. What are they doing here?" He asks.
"Who?" I ask him and then see a middle aged couple walking towards us. They both looked very very sad and were crying
"Why are you here?" Ashley barks at them.
"Are we not allowed to pay our respects to our son?" The woman asks with hiccups in between due to her crying
Son.
These were Ace's parents. Now that I knew, I was able to see the resemblance of both their features. He definitely has his mother's blue eyes.

"Your not welcomed here. He wouldn't have wanted you here" Ashley tells them.
They ignore him and look at me "You must be our sons wife" the mother says to me.
Wow, I guess word spreads around quickly "We didn't know our son was married until today" the father says with sad eyes.
I wanted to pull them into a hug and cry with them.
They looked so sweet and kind. Why didn't Ace like them?
"Well maybe it's because he didn't want you in his life" the doctor tells them.
"But he was our son" The father says.
The mother cry's into his shoulder until she looks up at me with hatred in her eyes "You. You you you! This is all your fault! She's not even crying!" She yells and is about to jump at me when her husband grabs her by the shoulders pulling her back.
Doctor Ashley stands in front of me as a shield.
I just stand there, in shock.
"Irina calm down!" Her husband says.
"This is all her fault! She doesn't deserve to be his wife! She should have looked after him better, she didn't deserve him" she yells and starts crying again.
"Look. We don't want much. We just want what's ours" the father says to me.
"Im sorry?" I ask in confusion,What was he talking about
"You bitch! She has everything! Everything that is ours!
She killed our son! She did it!" Irina yells
"We have a right to inherit everything our son had. He was our son. You don't deserve anything" the father says with the same amount of hatred.
I feel tears start to form again.
What an awful day so far..
I guess I was wrong about his parents looking sweet and kind.
They looked like they wanted to murder me on the spot.
"Exactly Peter. He was your son. He left a long time now, and he left nothing for you" Dr Ashley says.
"It's all supposed to be ours. This is not fair, just because he married her doesn't mean she gets everything that's ours!" they say.
"No. No it does means she gets everything and she got everything. She is his wife. And it's better off with her than you two. Now leave before we call security" he says to them.
As they turn around to leave, Irina grabs my wrist and brings me close looking me dead in the eye "This is not over" she hisses.
I pull my wrist out of her grip and she leaves with her husband. As soon as they exit, I turn around and immediately start crying.
Doctor Ashley rubs my back "It's ok dear. They're very very bad people, don't take their words seriously" he says to me
"Can I go home?" I ask wiping the tears.
"Yes. Yes we can go home" he whistles to one of the securities in the corner "Call Gary"
