Holding the small silver wedding band, I can't help but brush my finger over the engraved name inside that always put a smile to my heart

"Ace Anderson"

Knowing my name was too engraved in his band, forever, made me happy.

Today was my birthday.

Laying in bed, I was alone left wondering where Ace might have gone this early in the morning. I force myself to sit up and place my hands on my very grown stomach. I was a couple weeks away from my due date.

I smile from the inside but I had no more energy to force a smile out on my face. Everything felt like it was drained out of me and I was now just left with no energy which worsened my mood.

"How you doin baby girl?" I softly ask placing my hands around my stomach and let out a sigh

"Mommas trying to stay strong. I'm just so tired"

I move away from my thoughts when I hear a knock on the bedroom door before it's opened.

In walked Ace, carrying a tray filled with food.

Oh hoW well he knows me-

 "Good morning birthday girl" he says with a smile and places the tray of food on the night stand beside the bed

I give him a small smile and point to the food 

"What's this?"

 "A special breakfast for a special someone" he leans down and places a kiss on my lips

 "You always knew the way to my heart" I raise a brow and he smiles joining me on the bed

He reaches for the tray and places it in-front of both of us

Pancakes with a smile and a heart made out of blueberries and strawberries 

"You're so cute you know that?" I smile feeling my mood lighten up

 "Did you just call me 'cute-" he asks raising a brow

I reach for his cheeks and pinch them 

"You're so cute and adorable" I say in a baby voice and I let out a snort

He grabs my arms and swiftly pushes me back against the headboard, hovering over me with his face inches away from mine.

"Call me 'cute' one more time and we shall see what happens" he says, his voice lowering

Looking into his icy blue eyes I could never get enough of, he brushes his lips against mine. I bit my lower lip for a quick second before his lips are placed on mine.

Oh I could never get enough of those lips.

I bring my hand up to his cheek and can't help but lightly pinch it, while smiling into the kiss.

"You're insane" he mumbles with a smile 

"You're so cute" 

"My cheeks hurt" he pulls away looking at me with his now red cheeks

I can't help but laugh

Going back to the food, which I wanted to devour...

He starts to cut up my pancake and brings the fork to my mouth. I can eat myself-

But eh why not?

I open my mouth and take a bite 

"Mmm this is so good" I cry out

 "Thank you" I turn to him with a soft smile 

"Anything for you" he replies placing his hand on top of mine.

After breakfast in bed, I get up and decide to change out of my pjs.

"The day is not over yet, it has only just begun" Ace says wiggling his eyebrows

I stop moving and turn to him

 "...what do you have planned?" I question 

"That Mrs. Anderson, is a surprise" he says

I shake my head 

"Oh Mr. Anderson, when is life not a surprise with you..." 

"Meet me in the music room when you're done for your next surprise" he says placing a kiss in the crook of my neck from behind

I smile "okay"

After changing into a light blue flowy summer dress,I decide to pull my hair up into a bun and leave a few pieces down to frame my face in the front. I put on some minimal makeup to apply colour onto my face. I didn't want to look as sick as I did. All the colour had been drained out of me.

Looking at myself in the mirror, I see how thin my face had become. How dark my under eye circles were.

There were no more rosy red cheeks, or light pink lips. I looked sick. I was sick.

Fixing that with a little bit of makeup, I look at myself in the mirror and feel a bit more content.

Opening the door, I walk out into the hallway to go to the music room which is where Ace had wanted me to meet him.

We had updated the music room the past few years into an actual music room. A fine tuned piano, a nice library of music sheets both for Ace and I. It was a room we both liked to escape to from time to time.

I open the door and the bright sun shines through the windows. I see a little red carpet laid out with rose pedals that led to a mini stage he had created. A chair sitting in front of the stage.

I take a seat in the chair and face the stage. Behind a screen, Ace appeared holding his violin.

"Welcome, to a sunny concert in honour of Alexandra Grace, Anderson's birthday this fine lovely morning. Our special guest performers, Ace and Alexandra Anderson.

We hope you enjoy the concert" he says as if he was speaking to a whole audience

 I can't help but smile at how adorable he looked.

"Our first performance, is by the truly remarkable, amazingly talented, and extremely good looking.. Ace Anderson!!" he exclaims

I let out a laugh

 "Cocky much?" 

"It's just the truth ladies and gentlemen" he replied with a wink

He does a little spin and faces me again

 "Hello everyone, my name is Ace Anderson..." 

"Oh God" I laugh out at how crazy this was

 "I hope you enjoy my performance" He says and finally gets into position to start playing his violin

I truly enjoyed listening to Ace play. He was amazing at the violin. It was always like he was telling a story when he played any melody.

I sit back in the comfy chair and listen to him play, his fingers gliding along the strings, as he becomes fully immersed into the song.

His performance was transporting me into the world the song took place in.

Once he is done, I applaud and whistle giving him a 'standing ovation' "Bravo!"

He takes a bow and lets out a little laugh

 "And now... our special guest this morning... the one and only.. Alexandra!" He says and reaches his hand out for mine 

"Ace, I haven't played in a while!!" I exclaim

"Why you mustn't let our audience down, they're so excited to hear you play" he says raising a brow

I look behind me to an empty room

 "What audience?"

We both laugh 

"Come one, one song please?" He says and guides me to the piano

 "alright, can you please bring me the Nocturne in Eb major score?" I ask him as I take a seat on the piano

He nods his head and goes to the shelf with all the music

Finding the one I asked for, he hands it over to me and I place it on the piano stand

 "Thank you my love"

He takes a seat in the chair I was sitting in before, I look over the music sheet briefly and run my hands over the piano keys.

I start to play one of my favourite piano pieces by Chopin. It's been a while since I played the piano but it was something I could never forget.

As I played, I became one with the piano. I felt timeless, as if time had stopped ticking and I was fully immersed in the piece. No one and nothing else existed except for me and the piano. Everything around me gets blocked out as I focused on telling my story through the keys.

Feeling the muscle memory from previously having memorized this piece, I slowly start to close my eyes and look away from the music sheet as I started playing from my heart.

By the end of the piece, I slowly pry my eyes open, feeling the sweat and the sense of reality once again.

I turn to see Ace applauding and I give him a soft smile 

"Amazing" he whispers out 

"And that ladies and gentlemen, concludes our morning concert. We hope to see you again very soon" he says turning to the non existent audience

I can't help but laugh and gently smack his shoulder 

"Thank you Ace for this" I say and give him a soft kiss

 "I have another surprise for you" he says 

"Another one!?" I question

What has this man planned!

He turns around and leaves the room. When he comes back, he's holding a blue box with a blue ribbon on it.

"This is for you my love. Happy birthday" he says looking into my eyes

 "Ace, you didn't have to get me anything-" I start my little shpeel 

"Just open the box Alex"

I start to untie the ribbon and open the box, revealing a gorgeous bracelet with little butterfly charms around it.

The bracelet looked to delicate yet elegant at the same time. It was gorgeous.

"Ace this is so... beautiful" I breathe out 

"Never as beautiful as you" he replied and takes the bracelet out of the box, placing it around my wrist 

"Thank you" I say again and place my arms around him 

"...The surprises aren't over yet"

I must say, Ace had made this into a birthday I could never forget thus far and it was still only 5pm!

He had all these little activities planned out throughout the day that we did together just put a smile on my face.

We even did a little couples paint session which I must say... was a little messy-

Now that we were back home, I thought all the surprises were over, yet the biggest one was still left!

Ace brought me to the back of the house, where the backyard doors lead to the huge garden the house had. I couldn't see anything yet but he handed me a blind fold.

"Now for the biggest surprise...I wanted this day to be one you can never forget. A day where the only thing that will occupy your mind are happy thoughts. A smile on your face the whole day."

I cut him off 

"Which you have successfully done. Thank you for everything you've done today. It was more than I could ever ask for and just getting to spend that time with you, made me happy"

He places his hand on my cheek

 "I wish I could do more" he says softly as I lean into his touch 

"..I know we were planning to go to Vienna this year for your birthday. To attend the butterfly conservatory you really wanted to see. Since we couldn't go, I still didn't want you to miss out on that experience. Now please put on this blind fold, and hold my hand" he says

 "Ace please make sure I don't fall" I say hesitant to put on the mask

 "Don't worry, you're in safe hands" he softly chuckles and grabs my arms

I feel us walking out of the house and into the backyard.

Walking on a pavement, I was assuming we were walking to the garden area.

It was so quiet, just the sound of nature around us...

"On the count of three, I want you take off your blindfold" he says and I nod my head 

"one... two... three" 

"SURPRISE!!!" I hear everyone yell as I took off my blindfold

Every single person I cared about, was here. All of our friends, and family! It was amazing to see them all!

 "Oh my god Ace"I turn to him and place my head on his shoulder 

"Happy birth day Alexandra" he says and places a kiss on my head

I smile at him and turn to everyone who came up to us

Friends from work whom I haven't seen ina while since I started staying home, Leila and Sarah, Molly of course,

Dr. Ashley and his wife! I gave them all a hug.

Not to mention the decor around the garden. It was truly remarkable, I felt like I was in my own private butterfly garden. It all felt magical.

The rest of the evening goes by, surrounded with all the people I loved. We had dinner, there was music and we even had cake after I blew out my candles. It all felt truly special.

I realized, as I was sitting on my chair, holding Ace's hand in mine who was too seated beside me, as we talked to our friends and family, that this whole day, not once did I feel one single ounce of pain.

I felt like there was nothing wrong with me. That I was healed and was in perfect condition. I had all the energy in the world and for the first time in many weeks, my smile lasted the whole entire day.

Until I saw her arrive.

I feel goosebumps rise all over my body when I see her entering the garden with another man holding her arm.

What the hell was she doing here?

I feel instant anger arise and I immediately stand up.

Ace looks up at me confused as to why I instantly got up and he squeezes my hand

 "Alex is everything alright?" he questions

I let go of his hand and walk towards her, away from the crowd, with anger seeping through me.

As soon as she gets closer to me, she stops walking and freezes.

"What the f*ck are you doing here?" I spit out

She doesn't answer but just stands there. She looks down at my baby bump and then back at my face. Tears start to pool around her eyes.

"ANSWER ME!" I yell again

I feel Ace come to my side

 "Alex-" I cut him off and stand in front of him 

I didn't want him to get hurt and I knew how dangerous my crazy sister Jennifer could be.

"Ace, call the cops....

I warned you never to come back. That you only had one chance of escaping!!" I say with my voice slightly getting louder at the end 

"Alexandra... please I'm-" I cut my younger sister off, not wanting to hear anything she says 

"I don't want your apologies! You're not welcomed here, Get OUT before the police arrive!?" I yell and then feel Ace grab my arm, turning me to face him

 "Alexandra, I invited them" he says

Looking into his eyes, I feel an ounce of betrayal wash Over me 

"You, you did what?" I question softly, wondering if I heard correctly

I look him in his eyes and realize this was true... I immediately turn away from all of them and head back into the house

I couldn't do this right now.
