The Proposal

Mountain air cut against their skin as Lily and James trekked toward the secret spot-the secluded mountain lake nestled amongst towering pines.

It was dusk, and the sun was painting the landscape with golden glow. It was a surprise getaway and his idea, reconnecting with nature and reconnecting with each other.

She could truly become speechless when she gets to the lake.

She will take her breath in because of the view. Water reflected its view on the sky as a mirror. The place was not noisy as waves fell silently on the shore. James unfolds a blanket, asking Lily to sit on it.

"I love this place, Lily said, sighing happily. It is so peaceful,"

His smile won't fade, nor would his racing heart. For he had planned everything for weeks thinking over each minute detail. To him, this is the right place to propose that question that bothered his mind for months.

Night was slowly falling, and stars twinkled in the sky. James took a small box from his pocket. Lily's eyes became wide with surprise as she saw him on his knee.

"Lily," he began, his voice shaking, "since the day I met you, I felt that you were something different. You have brought joy and love into my life. You have taught me what true happiness, hope, and love are."

Tears of joy welled up in Lily's eyes. She hadn't thought it would ever happen, but now it was happening, and she had wanted this a thousand years ago.

"Yes, James," she whispered, almost inaudible. "Yes, a thousand times yes."

They gave each other the ring. He put it on her finger; this was for evermore love. They embraced each other with hearts that filled up with glee. Sitting under a star-spangled sky, they felt that their love was bigger and wider than the cosmos.

They simply existed within the haze of the celebrations and preparations.

They discussed over which wedding venue they must choose and what style dresses they should wear. They made their guest lists and began discussing the life they want to establish. With each passing day, they loved each other more.

 The bond between them continued to grow deeper with each shared dream. As they prepared themselves to get married, they realized that it was all about their love for each other.

The greatest importance was not about the ceremony, the reception, or the decorations, but it was the promise they make, the sealing of a commitment. 

But as the actual day of their wedding rolled in, they were peaceful and content. For they knew they were stepping into a beautiful journey of love, laughter, and endless possibilities.
