Adam turned on the TV with a casual flick of the remote. The screen came to life, displaying a live news broadcast.

A reporter stood in front of a chaotic hospital scene, his voice tense, his eyes betraying the gravity of the situation.

"This just in," the reporter announced, gripping the microphone tightly. "Since last night, we've seen an alarming surge in casualties. This epidemic is being called the Vampire Virus. Infected individuals violently attack others, spreading the contagion through bites and sharing their blood. Authorities are overwhelmed."

Behind him, the chaos unfolded. Ambulances screeched to a halt as restrained patients, their faces covered and limbs bound, were carried into the hospital.
