Adam sat in the dimly lit control room, his fingers tapping rhythmically against the desk as he watched Zero sift through streams of encrypted data. The hum of the computer servers filled the silence, an ever-present reminder of the battle they were waging behind the scenes.
Lilith stood off to the side, arms crossed, eyes locked onto the screens with quiet intensity. She had been cooperative so far, but Adam knew better than to trust her completely. The others, especially Phantom and Krish, still hadn't accepted her presence.
"This is taking too long," Phantom muttered, standing next to Adam. "If the Nexus Protocol adapts as fast as Lilith claims, we're already running out of time."
"I know," Adam said, not taking his eyes off the data. "But rushing won't get us anywhere. We need something solid."
Zero suddenly straightened, his fingers pausing over the keyboard. "I think I've got something."
Everyone's attention snapped toward him.
