A New Chapter

When Knox called for me, I didn't know what I had expected but it was not what he did. Since we had yet to talk about my little outburst, I thought he wasn't eager to talk to me. I couldn't have misjudged a situation more.

Knox was standing by the pool with a bouquet of roses. The roses were a mixture of black and pink ones. The pool area was candle lit and it smelled like strawberries and vanilla. It didn't take much to figure out that the scent was coming from the candles.

Behind him was a table that had been set for dinner. The whole gesture brought tears to my eyes. No one had ever done such a thing for me.

"Knox…" I started to speak but my voice trailed away. I was speechless.

He walked closer and handed me the roses. I hesitated before taking them in my hands because a part of me did not believe they were for me. Was it too dark and he couldn't see that it was me standing there?
